The standings as of this moment:

Miami 9-3 (ain't defense supposed to win championships?)
Kent 8-3
Akron 7-5
Buffalo 7-5
Bowling Green 7-5
Ohio 6-6

Four games left (five in Kent's case) and anyone can still win.  It's exceedingly unlikely the 'Cats can pull it off (everything would have to break our way), but third place or second?  Very doable.  It's worth noting that if WMU beats Kent tonight, they maintain their lead in the West and trail Miami by a game and own the tiebreaker for the #1 seed.  Ball State is lurking at 7-5, so we have EIGHT teams fighting for four byes.

Every game is a virtual must-win this week.  Look at what's on tap:

Today: Kent @ Western

Wednesday: BG @ Ohio, Miami @ Akron

Thursday: Buffalo @ Kent

Saturday: Buffalo @ Akron, BG @ Miami, Ohio @ Kent

Buffalo and BG both have difficult weeks with both games on the road and both teams trying to stop a late-season collapse.  Akron has a great chance with two home games to continue their surge and make a late run at the East title after a slow start.  Kent has had to do a lot of traveling in the last week, faces a tough challenge tonight at the Zoo, and then has to come home to face a Bulls team that whipped them the first time they played.  If they lose Thursday?  That makes Saturday's showdown reeeeeeal interesting.

I also think we beat BG quite comfortably on Wednesday. Looks like you travelling O Zoners have an important role at an important game on Saturday.

Close out that damn Miami game at the start of conference play and we're 1 game out of first....Grrr.  Very excited for this week's games, including tonight's makeup game.

Regardless of whether Kent beats Buffalo or not, their having only one day off to prepare between games could be a big help to us, especially considering all of their recent travel like Dragon noted...

Good stuff from the Dragon et al.  This is a very big week.

I don't have any delusions of grandeur.  Me?  I'd settle for a first round home game as the #7 or #8 seed.

I think we have to scramble and fight hard to even get that.

I'm way away from all of this, being busy and distant, but how is BG 7-5?  I thought they are not very good.  (burp re our loss to them at home, of course)

Kent wins by 2 after scoring the go ahead field goal with 2 seconds remaining.

They've won every close game they've been in...Stole OT games @ Buffalo and NIU.  I'm not even remotely sold on them, and could see them losing out.

Andrew--there are worse things than winning your close games and your OT ones!
