Could this be another late season get hot and run through the mac tournament Ohio Bobcat team.  The team is really starting to play well.  Cooper is being more team oriented 9 assist in the first half are you kidding me.  While Washington is playing with the same passion as last season in the mac and Ncaa tournament.  I am pumped for the to see what happens with this team, but I probably just jinxed them at Kent State.

Even though I admire their poise and they deserve a lot of credit for fighting back in OT, this thing of having 20 great minutes and 20 s*** minutes will take them only so far.  It's hard to get excited about their prospects for the season until they start playing 35-40 minutes like tonight's first half, last Wednesday's 2nd half or the 2nd half at Buffalo.

Yes I am a Buckeye fan, but I follow the bobcats very closely.  Last season if Ohio u wouldve beat Tennessee to play Ohio State I wouldve rooted for the Bobcats.  When Ohio u was beating Ohio State in the shoe in the 4th qtr I was pulling for Ohio University.  If I had to choose between a Ohio u elite eight run or a Buckeye championship I would take the Bobcats because it would mean so much to the University as far as recruiting or fan base.  I was there when we stormed the field against Pitt or against Akron to clinch the Mac championship.  Im sure im not the only one on this board that cheers for a major university and has Ohio as a side team

I'd rather think of it as others on the board who root for Ohio, a major university, and have another school from Ohio as a side team...

Bobcats first win at Kent State since Clinton was President. Bobcats made a statement that the MAC can't write them off just yet.  Wins at Kent st, Buffalo, Akron, and Ball State says a lot about the ability of this team to beat anyone in the MAC home, road or in Cleveland.  We have proved we can compete for the MAC tournament title. Our loses have been close.  This had a rough start 1-4 to the MAC with 3 home losses and a bad loss to CMU. They aren't perfect but they are in contention now.  Now we got to Beat Akron get that tiebreaker over Akron.   Now we control our own destiny for a bye.  two regular season games left Akron and at Miami.

I was with what you were saying until this...Your alma mater is never a "side team."  It's your team.

Translation- I prefer to self identify with a school I'v'e never attended because I have low self eseteem and want to fit in with everyone else. That way when the Buckeyes win I can high five my coworkers and say "yeah we won!", and then justify it by say "we" refers to all people in Ohio, as if thats who the Buckeyes represent. (they do not). In doing so I also completely fail to see the effect of financially suporting a university I did not attend or have a degree from.

BUT, I also want to be a closeted fan of my alama mater so on the occasions when they do make the news I can boast to my A&M friends about how "I totally went there" (Pitt/Akron) like its a random fact about you, like how your great great grandmother was part Shawnee or how your uncle Jeff has webbed toes.

The difference between a "major" university and your "side team" is nothing more than the number of bandwaggoners like yourself who financially support it. And don't give me this "but I grew up watching them.." yeah, yeah, so did the rest of us. So what. There are plenty of valid reasons to root for that team in Columbus, doing so because they are a "major" team is one of the more pathetic ones.

you're right, its a little harsh and I dont even know the guy (or gal), and he didn't knowingly say anything inflamatory. so nothing personal.

but in gerneral I have lost any tolerance for fans who only root for OU when its convenient and root for OSU because its self serving. fan support = $$$$$ and every dollar that a bandwagoner spends on buckeye athletics is a dollar not spent on my alma mater, hence my passionate retort.

You are right. Everyone in the state of Ohio should pull for the state team (Ohio Bobcats) to do well just like they do with Ohio State. The bobcat winning is good for the economy of the entire state.

Really seriously, I have been away for a few weeks but I thought a while back you were just "Done with Caring" so what does it matter and why are you here?  How do you start an angry thread and return to not post on just one thread but a few. I love guys like you that keep your ex wife irritated and full of venom.  Either mourn and be done with it or admit you love her. No quasi love disguised as hate relationships here.

Welcome bobcatbucknut!  Being versed very well in this subject, I would like to point out two rules since you're new here:

1)  If you want to co-exist with the majority of this board, never use 'major' or 'side' when talking about your team(s).

2)  Even if you use common sense and rational thoughts when talking about tOSU, any sort of praise or compliment for tOSU will not be welcomed at all times.

Failure to comply to both rules will be hazardous to the mashed potatoes at your next tailgate...

YES!

Again, I think even you would agree he just used some pretty poor word choice.  Ohio as a side team?  Come on...

Wow I swear you guys can be the worst at trying to welcome any kind of fan that also likes tOSU.  Ok saying 'side team' isn't the best thing to say on this board, but all of his other sentences before that one were giving examples of how he would root for OHIO over tOSU even though it would knock tOSU out of the Tourney or mess up their annual Natl Title hopes.   I mean come on, I can't even count how many OHIO alums that I am friends with that laugh at me if when I mention that I'd prefer tOSU to lose to OHIO in any matchup.  About the only thing you could really get mad at this guy for is if you found out that he spends more money on tOSU than OHIO, but you don't have that, so stop whining and be happy their is another fan for OHIO athletics and help get him to spend his money on that fandom!

Ya settle down.  I'm sure most people who attended OU were a fan of another college team for most of their life before they got there.  You cant just expect someone to totally ditch their alliance to a team.  You are allowed to have a 1a and 1b favorite teams.  Also, the notion that people are fed up with "bandwagon" fans is a joke as well.  The only way or program is gonna get better is if we get more bandwagon fans on board and enough winning turns them into full time fans.
