Very hard to draw much from this game but I'll try.

I'm all in on maximum AJ Brown. The talent is obvious. Had some great assists and don't remember a single mistake.

All the Freshmen look promising. Personally I love seeing young players play early so as I stated after last game, I'd be all for maximizing their minutes and possibly upsetting some veterans. EJ is a scorer, Hadaway a lot of all around potential and Sheldon more than capable ball handler. I'm honestly content with the prospect of next year we could have a rotation of these 4 freshmen, Clayton, Wiz & Hunter.

I'm all in on AJ Clayton the last 3 games. Post player with occasional outside shot, not the other way around. His strength/size/speed (post skills) are all noticeably improved from last year.

Anyone notice Miles is 57.1% from 3 this season? 10 for his last 14. Shot has gotten better every year. I still think he's our guy this year outside of DW in the post.

Close your eyes...Imagine a Saturday of a US soccer win in the morning, a MAC Football Championship in the afternoon and capping it with a basketball win over Marshall in Huntington. Let's get it done.

I gotta see this against better competition than EIU (lost at home by 20 tonight v. NIU), Alabama St. and UC Clermont.

Interesting to me that they’re redshirting a walk on in Estis. I take it this means they’re expecting he could develop into something?

This is classless what we are doing tonight.

And to top it off....Hunter gets hurt after trying to show off with a dunk.

And Wilson still playing against the 5th graders.

Ridiculous this is happening.
(Peter Griffin voice) You think that's bad...

Let me address your "spewing out propoganda" comment

As a broadcaster, a game like last night presents some challenges
from a TV standpoint. Our job (myself and Dave Cecutti) is to
do the best we can to keep the audience engaged in a broadcast. I don't
know who you are, but I would wager a guess Dave Cecutti has coached
more college basketball games than you have. There were various story
points that were important to bring up in a game like that, in our opinion,
and that's why we carried the conversation as we did at times. Dave had
various points of reference from a coaching standpoint that were worth
discussing during the game. There's no real sense in trying to break down
strategy in a game where the lead surpassed the 60-point mark.
We said at the top of the broadcast that it was a mismatch, we knew it,
Ohio knew it, UC Clermont knew it...no one hid from that. We were not
going to spend 2 hours taking anyone to task for the scheduling,(that's
not my job, and knowing how difficult it is to schedule games, I would
not do it anyway), the game broadcast is not a "sportstalk show"

Coach Boals and his staff work diligently to put a schedule together, and
they don't need me to defend them in this area. I'm sure they would have
loved for last night to be against "U-C" (without the Clermont attached).
So we were not going to question why the game the was scheduled, we were
going to point out what could be gotten from the match-up, why it was
important, and move on.

if that's "spewing out propoganda" to you, well I can't help you any further

That's where I'm at as well. Last 3 games AJ has looked much improved. But what does that really mean? That, much like in HS, he looks good against guys who are 6'3 and bench 175?

I dunno. Time will tell. Let's hope for all our sakes his play continues.

I don't feel bad in the slightest. We've played literally everyone except Estis and the team manager in this one. What did we think would happen here folks? Division II team. Sure maybe not the 60ish point win but everyone needs to RELAX.

Also, most of the starters played less than 15 minutes, so everyone needs to chill.
They are NOT an NCAA Division II basketball team! Not even close to an NCAA Division II basketball team. They are members of the USCAA (which, I am willing to guess most here have never heard of, and couldn't name another member), yes, in USCAA they are DII, but do not confuse that with NCAA DII

Sure, fair point but regardless, just his positioning on the court and overall focus needs to stick around. Less hanging out on the perimeter. And I'm not sure poor opponent negates the observation that he appears slightly taller, definitely stronger, and quicker.

Did you question why several starters - including our center with a fragile knee - were still in the game at the 13-minute mark of the second half?

Honest question -- I had the sound off.

This news has potential to derail this season. We are weak overall in the post if you include IJ.

Wilson and Wiz won't get it done. Toledo/Akron are going to feast. This is a glaring hole and will be the focal point of any opponent on offense.

I see us as a .500 club in MAC. Not bad but not good.

Marty, I always find your broadcasts very professional. I did not hear the one last night because I was at the game, and I didn't have my radio with me as I usually do, but it sounds like maybe you were doing the ESPN+ thing. I just wanted to say that you are my favorite current OHIO sportscaster guy. I really like your style of calling a game! Last night certainly was an unusual challenge.

Meh, Toledo has Milner and Akron has Freeman. Both very good; but we have Dwight to equalize those two. Neither team has other bigs that are going to “feast” on our bigs, anymore than we can make the argument Dwight can feast on Milner and Freeman at the other end.

They’re in just as much trouble as we would be if either of those two got in foul trouble down low.

I'd tend to agree that Wilson can hold his own, however, he has injury/stamina concerns. We haven't exactly had great guard play either to complement Wilson.
