Will be very interesting to see what kind of minutes Roderick gets if his shot doesn't return to form.
I predict that he'll see drastically less minutes this year. I hope that I'm wrong in this prediction.
I think that if B-Rod hits 3's out the gate, he will have his minutes. If he's B-Rod of last year, he will lose his job entirely to EJ4 and Adelodun.
It doesn't feel like we have a ton of wing depth (in terms of players who can guard both 2s and 3s), so my sense is Roderick gets minutes regardless.
James is big and strong, but a bit short. His size may make him versatile enough to take some of those minutes. I can see him as a sort of Marcus Smart in that sense in that he's super switchable on D. But that's not based on a ton, just a few highlight videos. Take it with a grain of salt.
Presumably Hadaway is a wing given he's only 190 pounds? He seems really talented, but always hard to know what to expect out of true freshmen.
Also didn't see a ton out of Adelodun to suggest he addresses Roderick's shooting issues. He only shot 25% from three last year -- super low volume (8 attempts) so who knows how real that is. I think the scouting report on him out of high school was that he was a solid catch and shoot guy, so hopefully it's not reflective.
All that said, I'm not sure how big opposing wings are in the MAC. Haven't reviewed the rest of the league, honestly. It's entirely possible big, skilled wings are just a rarity at this level and that they get grabbed by high majors, and we can get away with 3 guard lineups consistently on the defensive end. If that's the case, I think there's a good chance Roderick loses his minutes to a rotation of our 5 smaller guards (James, Sheldon, the Browns, Hunter).
