Yeah, I saw that too, Shab. No way that he gets separation from JP unless he pushes off mid-way through the route. :) Good to see him having fun with his teamies. Has to be a good sign that he is progressing well on the injury front…

I'll be shocked if Jason is on an NBA roster this season. G-League is most likely scenario.

There's a team in the same town that could use a pass first PG.

*Also one that can occasionally make an open shot.

The guy who was being interviewed about Wall joining the team made a point and included in that comment something along the lines of whether he starts or comes off the bench. I know nothing about the guy or if he has any idea what he is talking about but I’ll take that as a positive for Jason, until further evidence comes along anyway.

John Wall's averaged 22 games a season over the last 5 years.

He's a solid, low-risk, high-upside signing for the Clippers, but I'd be shocked if they're counting on him as a reliable rotation players.

Preston will still get plenty of opportunities there, at least as the roster is constructed currently.

He's got a fully guaranteed contract for this year. It's a relatively small number by NBA standards, so it wouldn't be much for the Clippers to eat that money if they had a roster numbers crunch, but he's still a young guy who hasn't had a chance to show what he can do. That will probably include playing in the G-League while maintaining an NBA roster spot with time also with the Clippers.

I'm not afraid that JP can make an impact with John Wall being signed. JW has been an injury plagued player for a few years now, and from what I've seen, JP has major promise at the NBA level. Maybe not a starting guy now but a great rotation player. Also, I have another excuse to post this masterpiece:

I hadn’t paid close attention to the fact that the listings for the games are Pacific Time. I had geared toward trying to watch some at 6:30 this evening. In case anyone else is doing the same the game is at 9:30 PM EDST.

Announcers unaware that Jay played in the Summer League last year.

Jay just stole the ball from Segu.

One or two of those turnovers weren’t his fault either. Just typical summer league plays. But very happy to see JP hit a three to get him going. Tonight also made me forget how much I miss seeing him in Athens…

Jay had a similar game last night. 7 points, 4 assists, 3 boards...4 more turnovers. I have to think if he doesn't step up and stand out a bit over the last few games, he will be headed to the G League.

I did watch last night. Hard to get a read...he sat out end of third and first five of fourth when Lakers took control. Wasn't his best game. Missed some floaters...missed his threes. Defensively he gave up a big driving layup late. Wish he played more minutes, but it's summer ball...and I'm sure they are still being careful with him. Still think he can stick on the roster when season starts. He has added weight and doesn't appear to be shooting from his knees anymore. Somebody is working with him on the release.

Preston needs more game reps for sure and he may be better suited in the long run to spend a lot of time in the G-League this year. But he should have no worse of a roster outlook than Jay Scrubb. If you're going to take it upon yourself to be an iso scorer in Summer League, you need to be way better than you are. A guy like Scrubb is never going to get an iso set in real NBA games.

JP is doing just fine for a roster spot. He's on a summer roster with a couple of ball hogs. He could've had more points if his teammates made the extra pass like he does for them.

I watched the entire game against the Lakers and anytime the Clippers allowed JP to run the offense and make more than 2 passes around, they scored. But you're right, there were a bunch of "me" players "Diabate, Boston, Moon" who were definitely in it to prove that they can score. JP lets the game come to him and Frank, the GM, was asked during the game about JP and he said that he's a sponge who loves the game and will come along just fine. He added 15 pounds of muscle and spent the injury season learning from the bench. JP will make it just fine on the roster. I just worry because Ty Lue is an awful coach and will let John Wall take 25 shots a game and they finish 40-42 again and JP will be relegated to bench.

The media gives the attention to the ball hogs and dunkers.

Before the first game, the announcers, including Isiah Thomas, were talking up Preston. But as the game went on,it became the Boston show and they said little about Preston, even though he was doing a great job passing, rebounding, running the team. You would think Isiah Thomas would know better.
