Akron head coach Keith Dambrot talked to the media following his team's 80-55 loss to Ohio University.

Here's the link: http://buffaloblitz.blogspot.com/2011/03/akron-post-game-...

Hope you check it out and enjoy. He definitely had some interesting things to say

There's just something about him that makes me not trust him.  Can't put my finger on it.  For example, all the timeouts at the end.  Its hard for me to believe his story about those timeouts and I'm not sure why.  Just sounds fishy to me.

Anyway, if you take him at his word then that's a pretty cool press conference.  He's just saying what he thinks and not sugar coating or "coach speaking" as McKinney pointed out elsewhere.

Akron's been very good under Dambrot. Very interesting to see his take on Ohio.  He pulls no punches.  Comparison between Boykins and Cooper is very true.  near-pro caliber player.  He makes everybody better.  We beat them bad twice.  They got trouble matching up with us when we defend the three and hit the boards.

Did anybody else catch at about the 3:50 mark when he was addressing the 3 timeouts in the final minute, he said something about how he wanted to make sure Tommy Freeman didnt get hurt again, then paused and said he was kidding about Freeman.  I'm not real sure what he was getting at?  Was he trying to mock Tommy hitting the deck while taking charges as if he is faking injury to sell it or something?

Actually...The comment about Tommy may have also been a gripe about the starters staying in the game until 1-2 minutes left, and he was somehow punishing Groce for that with the 3 meaningless timeouts.  I think there's something to it.

I don't think so.

He had just put the last of the seniors in for the last minute at 1:34 and probably planned to take them out en masse pretty quickly which he did at 0.55. When you are basically running a 7 man rotation  with an occassional Sayles, Adidepe sub in a pinch how are you going to be that small of a man to complain about the starters being in there. If you have done your scout them you know Coach Groce has a very limited rotation irregardless of if he is in a 4 OT game or regulation.

As usual, Dambrot has nobody to blame but himself.  He made the pregame comments about Ohio letting other teams back in the game.   He's a petty little @%@$.
