I was wondering the same thing.  It seems as if we have been with Russell for a few years now and I'd think that license agreement would be expiring soon.  I would hate to shell out $80 and then have OU land a very different uniform look for next year.  With the success of our teams the past few years I'd think we'd have a better chance to land with one of the bigger companies.   I'd love to see us go back to Addidas or even Nike.  Can anyone remember how long OUr agreement wiht Russell was supposed to be?

Don't forget about Under Armour

WIth the adoption of the new NCAA jersey regulations, I am willing to bet that we will get new jerseys next year. However we very well could keep the same design.

As some with a sharp eye may have noticed, the NCAA issues a blue square patch on the jerseys and shorts that are approved for game wear.  This is the first year of the program, and jerseys were not required to be submitted and approved; however it is next year. Basically the schools with the patches are mostly the schools that have new jerseys for this year, and the larger schools (Big Ten, SEC, etc.)  Since we do not have the patches this year, and it is required next year, I would wager that we would get new jerseys and get them approved.  If we were to continue to use our current jerseys, I would've thought we would've sent them in prior to this year and had the patches on the jerseys.

Here's to hoping for a Nike or Under Armour deal. These two companies seem to be taking over as the elite brands, so it would be nice to see the Green and White with a new deal with one of these two.

I say we stay with russell due to budget. They have been very good to the University with donations and being a lower cost supplier. The last time this topic came up, it was said nike and the other bigger names wanted the University to pay full street price for the product. Russell has been too good to ohio for either side to drop each other.

Maybe we could leverage our apparel relationship from the baseball program and get a deal with Akadema!

Jerseys with the blue NCAA patch also have the manufacturer's logo on the opposite shoulder (like college football jerseys have had for years). If for no other reason than that, I'd say Russell or whomever makes our uniforms will want new unis next year - it's a billboard for the brand.

Here's a great explanation of the whole deal:

Thanks David.  I figured that was the reason but wasn't sure.  The reason I say that is because at a Cardinals game two years ago this question came up - "what is the upper age limit for a guy to wear a player's jersey?"  I see that you're 23 so my guess is that is certainly within the limit.  I'm curious though what folks think is the upper limit.  And on a related note, what about concert tee shirts.
