Part of the problem was the horrible opponents.  It was the most predictable 1st round I've ever seen.  But even still, that is ROUGH.

I was at the Akron game last night (couldn't make it to Athens after work) and that is a generous number.  They made an announcement as the game started for everyone with GA tickets to move down to lower reserved and "find an empty seat" haha

I was in Toledo for business yesterday and stopped in BG for lunch on the way back. Took a walk around campus and I'm guessing the students are on spring break because there was nobody around.

I also took a peek in Anderson Arena for the first time. WOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW. Tear that thing to the ground.

These figures, including Ohio, did not include season ticket holders who did not buy tickets to these games.

While Ohio's attendance wasn't great, it was at least respectable for a first round home game.  The other figures aren't even respectable.

MAC first round home games traditionally have been notorious for poor attendance, even in years when the MAC overall had good attendance.  For example, I can remember back in the 90s when Ohio averaged 7000-8000 per game and would draw only 4000-5000 for the tournament game.

I thought our crowd was "into" the game and engaged.

I think I'll do a Love morph here.

1.  Student turnout - outstanding.  Up and engaged from the get go including not one but two guys in green.

2.  Dance team - at the risk of getting flogged, I'm getting used to the guy.  The girls really seemed into it last night.

3.  Pace of the game - I thought it was 1979.  Even with all of the fouls and all of the timeouts, the game moved right along.   There's something to be said for no promotions.

4.  110 - other than the tussle with the a few Ozone members when they played over winning team losing team, the band, like the dance team seemed into it big time.

Now the tough stuff.  Unlike previous years, season ticket holders had to pay for tickets to this game and many, myself included, only bought what they would be using.  A smarter play would be to include these tickets in the season package but just charge $10 more.  The revenue would have been greater and the reported attendance would have been close to 5000.

And finally, if the vip section where the president sits isn't going to be filled, give those  seats to kids in the area.  Schaus looks really lonely with just his wife sitting up there.

Plus, neither were the one from the dance contest vs. Akron.

I've said all year I think he is probably the best, most enthusiastic dancer on the team.  Additionally, I give him major props because lord knows, right or wrong (okay, wrong or wrong), our society doesn't make it particularly easy for him to pursue such a dream.

No promos and more band was something I really enjoyed, which leads me to...

The 110 brings it, every game.  I do wish they'd waited for me, but when Dr. Suk says to play, they gotta play -- and I'm certain there's somebody in his headset telling him when to go.  Can't wait to reunite with them in Cleveland (and can I just say -- I love that they were there for the women today, and will be around as long as the men are.  No nonsense about only sending them if we make it to Friday, etc.).
