I'm doing research on Google myself, but I figure maybe someone here has already checked it out.

What is the closest/cheapest option for a hotel up in Cleveland for the tourney?

If no one responds I'll post the options I come up with! 

Priceline's name your price feature never steers me wrong. Usually possible to get a room for less than $60 per night.

Priceline, definitely, for your hotel.

As for parking:  if you are anywhere downtown, I recommend the Euclid Prospect Garage, 740 Euclid Ave.   Good location.  Very reasonable rates.  I've never had a problem with leaving my car in there for the week and then picking it up when I leave.  MUCH cheaper than parking at your hotel.  It's just across the street from the back of the Winking Lizard.  Another advantage is that you can pop in there throughout the week and make sure your car is OK.  

Only disadvantage is having to carry your luggage to the hotel.  IMO, however, it's worth it when you consider the money savings.   

Of course if you've seen Jeff's car you'll know why he's never had a problem leaving his car in that garage.

I've never had an issue with Priceline, and use it almost every time I travel. 

But, if you're looking for a close hotel and more of a sure thing, earlier in the week Hotwire had a ~$60 hotel which ammenities match with either Holiday Inn Express & Residence Inn. Both near the arena, but nearer to the Winking Lizard.

I think they have a 3.5* hotel offer for $52 today which looks like it may be the Crowne Plaza also. You can use Hotwire's star+ammenities list with the star+ammenities list on betterbidding.com, and get a pretty good guess on what is being offered to you.

I've never been upset with a Priceline hotel downtown. I think the furthest away way has been the DoubleTree, which is probably 1/2-3/4 mile from the arena & Lizard.

Hey Jeff, how much do you usually pay for that parking on Euclid?  I know I usually have to pay $20 a day for the valet at Radisson (which is a great hotel) and would love to pay a little less this time.  I am taking a rental up so I don't care if it gets banged up.  HAHA!!! 

Concerning hotels, I've stayed at three of them during MAC.  One was the Days Inn over by the campus of Cleveland State I do believe.  It was a fifteen minute walk to the Q, got a little cold about 3/4 there.  I also stayed at Wyndham.  Didn't really care for that one.  The best has been The Radisson which is almost directly across the street.  I pay close to $110 a night which I consider not bad for a 30 second walk to the Q.  They are real friendly there and the valets are great guys except the $20 a day.  If you can get in there, go for it.  I've also heard from a friend that the Holiday Inn Express is good too.

edit: I got a room at the DoubleTree for $50 + $16 taxes & fees on priceline.

FWIW, I stayed at the Hilton Garden on Feb. 26 and at that time they had waived their parking charge ($16) on weekends.  Who knows if that is still the case 2 weeks later.

EDIT: It's right on their site that complimentary parking on Fri. and Sat. goes through 3/26/11... so whoo hoo!.

I jumped on that $54 Crowne Plaza one this time... may have to sniff out that parking deck Jeff mentioned instead of paying their $18 charge for parking)
