No - not about to flog one of the various "_ _ _ Love _ _ _" posters on here :)

Now that the last game of the 10/11 season has come and gone - with yet ANOTHER unfinished rendition of the Doobies "Without Love" by the 110 - I would like to see how many on here are just plain tired of the tune never getting to the rousing finish and excitement it can bring to the crowd at a game.

Why does the director insist on trying to play it during ANY time out other than one of the long TV time outs that may also just happen to not get shortened play time due to promotions? I don't think I have heard a full rendition of this iconic 110 classic performed at a game in........YEARS!

I say it's time for a change - let's finish (the tune) Strong! Right before the start of the second half!

Anyone else agree?????

At the risk of dating myself, I believe there is nothing like the 110 playing this song in a packed Convo late in a tight game.

One way to make that happen would be to call this guy, the Dobbies former manager.

I was actually at distributor who introduced the brand into Ohio back in the early 90's. Interesting story for those who would not be aware - though I think they sell as much olive oil and gourmet food products as they do wine these days. I don't think they even sell in Ohio anymore - so much for how he cares 'bout anything Ohio - !

So - it's the "packed" reference that risks dating you?

Besides - I would have to tell him I like the 110 cover better than the original, from the first time I heard it - Fall of 1977!!!!!

He still sells it in Ohio.  Just checked the cellar only to find 4 bottles of the silver label cab with the olives on the label.

Maybe somebody picked him up again - I remember Erlin over at House of Wines in Marietta asking me about why nobody distributed them in Ohio a few years ago.

Yes.

"Down around the corner half a mile from here
see them both feet run and you watch them dissapear

without love where would you be now
without love

though i saw miss lucy down along the track
she lost her home and her family and she won t be coming back

without love where would you be now
without love

with the feeling always central and the southern central freight
you got to keep on pushing mamma you know there running late

without love where would you be now
without love

when the pistons keep on turning and go round and round
and the steel reels are cold and hard and the moutain ain t no down

without love where would you be now
without love"

I completely agree, need to make it a point to get thru the whole thing at a certain point in time every game.  Perhaps we could replace the regular "Stand up and Cheer" (which is played many other times) at the under 8 timeout with Long Train, with an extended amount of 110 dancers on the court.  What Bobcat fan doesn't get fired up hearing Long Train from the 110?!

RS, two suggestions:

1)  Learn the actual name of the song.

2)  Instead of telling the band director (who is without a doubt one of the best in the business) when to play "Without Love", why don't you give athletics a call and ask why they feel a need to shove Larry Conrath Realty down our throats when the priority should be getting the crowd fired up...

I'd love to hear a full rocking Long Train Running every game.

But, athletics needs all of the Larry Conrath and Tires and etc. cash it can get.

Ruck, that is an EXCELLENT suggestion!  I would LOVE to see that happen!!!!!!!!!!!!  There is nothing better than watching the 110 bust a move to that song!

They used to play this at the Convo back in the day. If they didn't, they should have and should today! O-H-I-O by the Ohio Players:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0Iur61iGQA&feature=related

Anything by Dayton's Ohio Players is suitable for the 110. Nice link, Giacomo.

BTW -- A subset of the Ohio Players -- called The Players Band -- did an absolutely scorching set, sans horns, at the 1983 or 1984 SpringFest. I wish that would've been recorded on audio or film.

First thing I thought when I heard that song...the 110 needs to arrange this as a stand tune or something.

Make it happen, TC!

This would be an original alternative to the hybrid deal that a certain other band and its fans do when playing Hang On Sloopy by The McCoys -- another band with Dayton roots.

I've been advocating for over 15 years that there should be an Ohio Players halftime show.

Also, the quadruple option.

Not every idea is a good one.
