Tough way to end the season.  Gotta play some defense to get a W, no matter who you are playing!

Worst effort from Ohio since pre-MAC schedule. Someone will have to explain that last minute to me.

Wild finish.  Thought Ohio was gonna take it.  I guess it's on to football season.  Can't wait to make it up to Athens this fall.

I think they were just better than us.  We kept coming back so I'm not so sure it was the effort although the defense stunk.

I'm not sure I can explain that last minute and a half.  I'm not sure why we are shooting a three when we are down only one.

Good season Bobcats, and thank you seniors for all the memories over the past 4 years.

The only 3-pointer we took when we were down one was a wide-open look by Tommy. That's about as good as any look we're going to get. Why Cooper had to jack up a 3-pointer from 5 feet behind the line when we were down 3 with 50 seconds left, that I don't know. There was plenty of time to get a better look.

Can someone tell me what happened in the few minutes of this game? We are in Statesboro, Ga., on spring break. We went to dinner at a local Thai restaurant and were hoping to get back to the B&B in time to watch the second half via the web. However, the restaurant had a big influx of folks, unexpectedly, and the service was very slow. Therefore, I had to settle for getting score updates for the whole game via ESPN on my phone. We seemed to be consistenly down by about eight points throughout much of the game. Then we came back and with about 2:30 to go we had a one point lead -- 72-71 (I think it was), and the next update had us down three with something like 30 seconds to go. I'm thinking we just need a three to send it into OT. However, when the final score is posted we lose by NINE -- 82-73. What exactly happened in that last 30 seconds or so. A complete collapse? Somehow, this whole season leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There were lots of good individual performances on given nights, but this team never seemed to jell quite right. Well, I have great hopes for next year given what we have coming back, the redshirts and the new recruits. Go OHIO!

P.S. Thanks TF, Devo, AA for your wonderful play and your dedication to OHIO basketball. You will be missed.

I didn't see the game, but read the recap (thanks Lonnie McMillan). It appears that Ohio's last two losses were due to monumental collapses within the final two minutes. Let's hope this is addressed in time for next season.

Thanks again seniors! That Georgetown win was fun!

I don't think this game can be described as a Bobcat collapse.

We started off in a hole due to Crockett and Tubbs hitting every shot he took including two 3 pointers that hit off the rim, bounced straight in the air and finally fell in. (Also a poster dunk we might be seeing on Sportscenter)

We had to battle back the whole second half, and thanks to Devaughn playing tough down low and some clutch shots form Nick Kellogg we came all the way back to take a BRIEF one pint lead. After that ETSU came back to life and put us away.

I thought we played well. DJ wasn't on his A game, and Ivo and Keely had early foul trouble, but I was happy with our effort overall. ETSU is a good team with good athleticism, not a bad loss at all.

Thank you Seniors! But, I'm looking forward to the 11-12 season.

The story is posted on the front page, but we were up one, they answered, Tommy missed a really good look and they scored again to go up 3. Cooper jacked up a 3 and missed. We fouled, they hit 2 free throws and went up five. They had two more free throws and broke out for a dunk in the last few seconds.

We shot terribly but there was a lot of hustle. We got a lot more offensive boards and they are pretty big all around. Ivo got in bad foul trouble and wasn't a factor. DeVaughn was basically unstoppable when we went to him. Kellogg was spot on. Tommy was not, but hit two big ones. Cooper really struggled too. We couldn't stop a couple of their guys and they shot 53 percent overall. We were kind of lucky to even be close at the end.

Great game, Bobcat fans. I was getting really nervous towards the end. Your team reminds me a great deal of ours.

I was really impressed with Cooper, even though he seemed to struggle tonight. He's versatile, tough, and poised.

Best of luck next season.

Thanks, UpSan, I appreciate it. I wonder how much the depth perception problem mentioned in another thread was a factor. Playing basketball in a football dome has got to be difficult. Not making excuses, but these kind of factors can be big, especially the first time you go into a "weird" gym like this. Well, I'm just upset that it had to end like this. I would have loved to see the seniors on this team win this tourney and go out remembering their last Ohio game as a win. Well, I guess it wasn't destine to happen.

I certainly wouldn't compare this to Ball State, which indeed was a collapse. I didn't get Cooper's long 3 either, but we didn't get it done on the defensive end all night.

It seemed like we shot decently from the outside, just not from other spots on the floor, but you're right. I've seen a couple of basketball games in the Expo Center at the Columbus Fairgrounds, and teams always say it is very hard to shoot there because there is all kinds of open space behind the hoops rather than having some kind of a background.

It just seemed like we never got a rythym on offense, and they had a couple of players we could not stop.

OK Steve, you're right. Maybe "monumental collapse" was an exaggeration on my part to describe the end of this game. My point remains that we will need to play better in the final 2-3 minutes. What I read on an earlier thread about our depth and running ability next year is encouraging in that we could finish stronger at the end of games.

From what I saw we really hung tough and battled despite many of our guys having tough nights.  Similar to the Marshall game, I thought a few times we were going to get run out the gym.  Instead we kept fighting.

I think Baltic especially learned a lot he can take into the offseason after this game and the Marshall game.  He really struggled against longer, more athletic, defenders.  He took many strides this year, but adding either some bulk and/or a 15ft face up jumper to give him more than the backing in moves, will really benefit him.  He's pretty predictable right now.  Another thing that really stuck out tonight was Ricardo.  I described him a few weeks ago as athletic, wild/out of control and not shy.  He was all of that and more tonight.  I thought he really hurt us tonight.

The positives the CIT provided us was allowing Kellog to end on a positive note after some late season struggles.  He was solid tonight.  And it was nice to see Keely enter the offseason with some confidence.

Otherwise, I really hate to say goodbye to the Seniors.  I will really miss not seeing Tommy and Devo out there when we start back up in October.  Two Bobcats that had really solid careers.  Thanks guys!

11-12 is probably a pretty accurate guess at what we'll be next year.  The loss of Freeman and Washington, a young team, and not much size--we have a lot to overcome.  Though we will have some talent.

We can be better than 12-13 the next year, though.

I think we should be fine next year. Not crowning us the frontrunner as Kent St will get the jinx next season.

We do return the starting point guard in DJ Cooper an  All-MAC selection. We also return our starting off guard in Nick Kellogg.  Despite losing Freeman at the three we pickup up Offutt and the grown of Hall and Johnson will help. More depth at the reserve backcourt with Taylor, Mitchell and Goard.

As for the frontcourt we return Baltic and Keely.  We lose Washington, but pickup Smith and perhaps Jacobs has an impact next year off the bench.  We do have a schollie in the hole. Maybe another big comes our way to give us a body to bang inside with Kent, Miami, Buffalo and Akron.

We should have a deeper bench next year.  The strength at the guard position atleast will keep us in games. Its gonna come down to Cooper and Offutt hitting shots. Cooper must improve his outside shot.  He gets up to 35% instead of 30% on the threes and we got a chance.  Keely and Baltic need to continue to improve and show they are ready to rule the paint inside on a consistent basis.

Chicken George:  I think Ivo has really improved the 15 foot jumper this year, and if you look back, he actually used it quite a bit this year.  As for last night, it was all a matter of him getting into foul trouble.

I think you are being a bit bleak.  Losing Tommy and Devo is a big set back but we've got a 1st team All-MAC player who is going to be better. We've got a 1st team All-frosh who is going to be better. We have a 4 who had a breakout second half of the year who is going to be better. We've got two up and coming freshman who are going to be better.  We've got four new players coming in who may or may not fill some of the blanks but all reports are good.  Unless we lose some important cogs unexpectedly again I can't see us winning any fewer than 17 games.

I'm thinking it should read "2011-2012" or "'11-'12 season"
