Your boys wanted it last night and earned it.  They played with heart and went hard the entire night.  Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the tourney.

Thanks.  The zone D really gave you guys fits.  I wonder if that was an issue all year.

Anyway, see you in the Fall.

A Herd fan that comes on the board and says something nice?

Impossible...  But seriously, thanks.  It'll be a fun game in September.

He's manning up and saying the same thing on their board while the vast majority of their posters are making excuses. Kudos to him.

WOW!!!!!!

That is the one. Congrats for opening my eyes to the possibility there is one. Seriously, If you are ever in AThens PM me....I want the honor of sharing a drink with the one Herd fan who actually approaches the world with a sane attitude. Having been in the middle of hundreds of fanbases Marshall was one of the ones that I had yet to find a nice fan. Like finding a nugget of gold in my back yard or a four leaf clover.. Rare but appreciated.

Catfan, there actually are TWO -- Herdftblfan AND We Are Marshall (scroll up).  And you can rest assured there are plenty of others.  It's just that message boards are "A-H--- magnets"; they attract a lot of idiots who come cowardly forth, masked by presumed anonymity and ... confirm they are idiots!

Just because I was talking smack doesn't mean I don't respect your program.

If I didn't I wouldn't have even bothered coming over the the board.

I'm eating crow and I'm sure you all are enjoying it.

Would you enjoyed the win more if I didn't come over and get you riled up?

I hope those that came enjoyed their time in Huntington did, win this tournament and we'll see you all come football season.

Much like Miami, for my purposes while working at the games, Marshall is just fine. Good folks, usually a decent free meal, and a gaggle of reporters & athletics employees I've known for years who do good work.

Woody, Cotton, McCann, Morehouse, McGill, Burnside, Cornwell, etc. all ensure a good experience for me.

I know........sacrilege.

I believe that "butthurt" is a more appropriate term.

No, butthurt means when you're mad about something for dumb reasons.

I'm not mad.

It's good to see most of you all win with class though.

Thank you, Herd fans... I've decided you're better than those Temple people.

See you in the fall.

Oh please.  You want class? Don't come here talking down to us and expect to be treated with "class."   You act like you were performing a public service.  You are a troll plain and simple.  Plenty of opposing fans come onto this board to talk and/or discuss basketball including a few from our most hated rival.  They are treated with respect.  You are welcome to come back and talk basketball in the future but for now, you made your bed of crow. Shut up and lie in it.

As a lifelong WV resident and OHIO alumni, I've been surrounded by Marshall fans my entire life.  In fact, my wife's family is made up of mostly passionate Marshall fans.  Locally, I've found Marshall fans to be great.  Will probably upset both sides (OHIO & Marshall fans) but I consider both schools athletics to have a lot in common.  Both programs kind of remind me of one another.  I'm no sports historian, but other than Marshall's great football run a few years ago, you match both schools up in a contest and it's usually a pretty even matchup.  The other thing both schools have in common is that they feel like the little sisters sometimes---Marshall to WVU and OHIO to Ohio State.

I personally like having Marshall on all our out of conference schedules.  Short drive, good competition and a bit of a rivalry feeling.

And yes, "many" (if not "most") of the Marshall fans I know kind of miss being in the MAC.  I've had many tell me C-USA was a move up, but not necessarily a good fit--for what that's worth.

Marshall has a clear advantage in recent football history but our basketball team has just as clear of an advantage.  Their basketball accomplishments amount to essentially nothing.  They have one MAC championship (1956) and a handful of Southern Conference championships.  They have never won an NCAA game in five appearances, losing by double digits each time.  I read somewhere that last year's CIT victory for them was their first postseason victory since 1947 when they won the NAIA Championship. Not sure if that's true or not.  We haven't been great lately but we've been a heck of a lot better than that.
