6-11 D.J. Cunningham of nearby Waterford Ohio is tearin it up in the first half of the 1st round NCAA game tonight.

He has 6 points and 3 super assists......I think someone said he was not a D-1 talent.......someone was obviously wrong.

By the title of this thread, I thought you were going to mention Kyryl Natyazhko (had to look that up) that went to play for the Arizona Wildcats.

The big difference is that we tried to get Kyryl.....we could have landed Cunningham....just didn't want him.

Unsure what is up with Cunningham; was going for virtually a double-double on sixth man minutes most nights at midseason to virtually no scoring at the end. Might be hurt.

Played at a tiny HS in a terrible conference with light AAU attention; not a shock that folks expected more Tom Haskell than anything else.

I've been a bit down on Reggie all year, so it's only fair to point out that he played what could've been his best game of the season tonight.  Very solid all around game.  I hope he brings this game to the table for the entire 2011-12 slate.

I think getting Keely more touches will help just like it did for Ivo. Without Freeman I think we go inside more next year. Keely needs confidence.  He gives bulk inside.  Need to get him to play bigger minutes.

The Big Manz is traditional Ohio ball. Gary Trent,  Brandon Hunter,  and Leon Williams.  Keely is the guy that fits that description. Guys will big shoulders and can push people around get the ball and finish and get the and one.. Now its time for Keely to show us he is the next Big Manz.

I'm not ready to put Reggie in the same sentence as Leon, Gary, Jerome and Brandon.  However, I will agree he played well last night and could be a real asset if he plays like this on a consistent basis.

To be honest I bet we run more and play a faster transition game more next year

whoa, where's that coming from? when I read oubobcatjohn's comment I took it to mean we would have to go inside more because we're losing our all time leading 3 point shooter. Kinda like, as in its a compliment?

I don't see anything explicit or implied that he's suggesting that we didn't go inside more because Tommy prevented it in some way. maybe you're correct from a bball IQ perspective ( I wouldn't know, mine isn't that high) but it seems pretty unnescessary to go off on a fellow Bobcat for what appears to be, at worst, an innocuous observation.

same team on 3- 1,2,3....

Sorry about that ....seems that Oubjc sees a different game than is out there.

Tommy is leaving a similarly equipped 3 ball shooter in his wake. Bubba and he spent a lot of time together and his has spent the same time with Nick, TJ and Ric to have confidence and get their shots up so the system continues to work There is only an occassional possession where the bigs are not touching the ball in any possession we have whether it is off the ball reversal, high screen, pass to the block or pass the to elbow,. The Bigs have not been lacking for touches and pushing the post anymore would upset the effectiveness of the perimeter. The game is played from the inside out and there has to be a balance for TEAMs to win.

Big man who owns the boards, plays defense, makes it known that the area withing 7 feet of the hoop is his and others stay out.  Toughness.  In timidation.

Here's another really good Big Manz that got away...6'10" 260 lb. Denzel Bowles.  If people aren't sure who he is or don't remember, he was a high school teammate of Devaughn.  We recruited both of them, but Denzel ended up going to Texas A&M.  He decided to transfer a couple games into his sophomore year.  Word is that Ohio was at or near the top of his list, but we didn't have a scholarship available at the time.  He ended up going to James Madison and averaged 21 pts, 9 reb, and 1.4 blk in '09 and 17.6 pts, 8.8 reb, and 1.6 blk in '10 while shooting over 58% from the field both seasons.

Can't imagine what our frontline would have looked like with Bowles the last two years.  I also can't imagine what a nightmare it would have been for opposing high school teams having to match up with Devaughn and Denzel.
