Several points...

1. I know it's a CIT game and I'm not supposed to care, but I can't help it.
2. These FT shooting escapades late in the game make me want to punch a dolphin, especially after the Ball St travesty.
3. Feels good to beat Marshall in anything, at least that's a nice bonus given the way the MAC season ended.
4. Wow, those Marshall announcers were rough. Makes you appreciate what we have in Russ and Rob.
5. I liked that at one point the announcers (very derisively) commented that the only thing Freeman could do to hurt opponents was hit 3's... Then he took that charge with about 20 seconds left when Marshall had a fastbreak down 1, which was probably the clutch defensive stop of the game.
6. Good effort from Keely tonight. Would like to see more of that.

The BIGS won this game for Ohio....the 3 of them combined for 37 points,  25 rebounds, and 5 blocks.

Break out game for Keely?

I'd think that Keely would be the player of the game for the Bobcats, by a wide margin.

34 registered users are online now...I don't know whether to be glad or not.

edit: With this win, I'd be pressed to guess that we are the first team in America to have a win in the NCAA, NIT, CBI, and CIT tournaments.

He really stood out to me. He rebounded tough against bigger guys, and showed great  pace in his post moves. Sometimes I feel like he is too deliberate when posting up. Tonight I thought he made up his mind and made nice moves.

How appropriate was it that one of the key plays towards the finish was Tommy taking a charge?  But man, we have to work on those free throws.

Old Dominion has done it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Dominion_Monarchs_basket...

Bradley has done it.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Braves_men%27s_basketball

And check out this 4 year period for Bradley.

2006 - NCAA Sweet 16
2007 - NIT Second Round
2008 - CBI runner up
2009 - CIT runner up

Way to steal my thunder...we are 3rd out of ~350.  I guess that is something to be proud of.

Now lets win this damn thing!

I was thinking exactly the same thing when that play went down, especially since Tommy had 4 fouls at the time and a call the other way could have ended his career.  A really fitting play.

Huge win!

Did Kane's reputation/attitude help the ref on that charge call?  Maybe a little?

this was literally posted on a marshall thread....

What's sad is they don't have one player that would start for us. We just let them outhustle us all night and when we went up 6-0 we just went all "playground".

There is a reason these two teams were in this tournament and not in the NCAA or NIT. We lost too many games this year because we lost focus late in games and tonite was more of the same. 2-9 from line including missing three front end of one and one's in last minute.

That said we did win and we are still playing some ball.  Great to Big Reg give us a little preview of his game next year.  Beating Marshall in their gym is always good.  Big win for the MAC. Not a good nite for CUSA.

In warmups, they were goofing around.  Up by the insurmountable margin of 6-0, they started grinning like the game was over.  Our players were focused.

A few days ago I was totally not excited about this opportunity.  30 minutes prior to tip off I saw a shot of the arena on a tv at the restaurant and i thought there would be nobody there.  5 minutes into the game I thought we could get run out of gym and would lose by 20.  They looked really good and we looked really bad (DJ limping too).

In the end, it was a great evening of hoops and it probably didn't hurt that we snuck that one out.  Pretty good crowd.  Good energy.  We hung around, hung around and hung around.  We pulled it out despite looking like we wanted to give it away at the charity stripe.  Washington & Keely really stuck out as stars.  Baltic struggled against big defenders, but loved he hit a 16 footer late.  Like to see him add this to his game.  Tommy solid.  Did a nice job boxing out on the boards against a much bigger and athletic team.

Marshall looked like they were much better and had way more athletes.  Yet we hung around long enough where we forced them into jumpers with our zone and pulled out what I thought was sure to be a loss.  Nice effort all around.

Fun, fun evening and great game!

You know, I've looked at the NCAA bracket several times and I haven't seen Marshall's name. Obviously, I must have some kind of computer malfunction that's not allowing me to look at the proper bracket.

FWIW, it was Marshall's smallest attendence of the season-4200 not too bad.  A nice win, but butt ugly for sure.

There's a nice picture of this charge courtesy the Huntington paper.

More likel;y they felt bad about calling this proper defense a foul. You work and work with kids to stand straight upand not lower their arms. opr slide then when they do that Guys like Eads and Boroski penalize you .

Next time I see Bo I am going to ask WTF is going on. When you finally get a player that is not jumping, not slapping down and not sliding in late why the hell would you penalize him...that is a simple no call. Texctbook defense need not interrupt the flow of the game. If the shot is missed or made there is no call. By caling this you force players who are fundamentally sound to abandon what they have been taught.
