Just got the word.  He can probably go to a bigger school but he'd be just what the doctor ordered for Ohio.  I'd take him here in a heartbeat.  Hasn't built enough strength to consistently defend in the Big Ten but he's got some good moves and possesses a top-notch touch around the rim.

Who is Garrick Sherman

Wha!  Garrick was a NW Ohio 4-star who committed early to Michigan State after offers from other schools including Notre Dame, Purdue, and Iowa.  He's got a great feel around the basket, was a solid ballhandler, and is legitimately 6'10.  He started numerous games over his freshman and sophomore seasons but he suffered from a lack of Big Ten bulk and some confidence issues.  Just didn't work out and there's a bit of a logjam in the MSU frontcourt.

There's some speculation he could go MAC and he's from Kenton so Sherman may want to get closer to home.  He'd make Ohio better tomorrow, I have no doubt about that.

Also, the best place to go to the tape and see what he looks like when it's clicking is this year's MSU @ Duke game. He was very good in that game in 21 minutes.

If we can't get a big that the coaching staff is comfortable with to play next year, then I wouldn't be opposed to going after Sherman.

From what I've seen of him he won't wow you with great skill, but he is 6'10, 240 and shot 70% from the field.

I'm sure he is better than Jacob, but like someone else said we need a big for next year not the year after, unless of course Jacob moves on.
I'm sure Groce has met with each player since the season ended and they talked about the future. I would have enjoyed being a fly on that wall.

sherman, despite his size, just wasn't physical enough for the big 10.  i watch a lot of sparty's games, and he was constantly getting pushed around.  he would be a great fit for us, though, since we aint going up against purdue, OSU, etc every nite.
