I'm curious to see how you folks would analyze what VCU has done to make it to the Final Four.  It seemed to me that in general their team was not as strong or as athletic as KU, but that they were quicker and faster, and somewhat smaller.  Did they run the basketball equivalent of the option offense that allows a quicker smaller team to triumph over a bigger, stronger team if the offense is executed to perfection? VCU got a lot of its threes on inside-outside action that was executed very quickly.  Perhaps, I'm stretching the analogy.  I'd very much like to hear the analysis of those on this board who are better at Xs and Os than I am -- which means nearly everyone with the possible exception of my dear, old buddy, Monroe.

It makes me more sick that we got blown out by Kansas by 57, when a somewhat equivalent mid-major beats them by 10 on a neutral floor in a much bigger game.

Of course, VCU had to win other games to get here, but if we can figure out a way to get Kansas to shoot 2 of 21 3 pointers and 53% from the foul line, we'd beat KU too.  I didn't see the game, just the stats.  That's awful shooting.  KU panicked, I would say.

Way to cherry pick

All year long Kansas has had an unreal Margin of Victory including cruising through the tourney with a 20 point margin in a tourney that has seen one of the closest average margins of  victories yet you choose to post this.

I generally agree with most of your points but you lose a bit of credibility by choosing this as your latest bball post.

BTW if you believe we are an equivalent mid major youare sadly mistaken. Their Fanbase supports. Home games were 5700+ at their lowest with attendace at about 6200 for the rest of the season and sell outs for the 5 home games. THey play in a league with 3 bids this year. They have a practice gym where guys can get into 24/7 and work on their games

Tthey play in a very hostile environment that looks a bit more menacing than the COnvo does in its present form.

No Love .....while you and I share many views of the program and where it is and where it can go......you can take that performance in Vegas without a starter and 3 frosh and 2 sophs on the floor and keep throwing it up as fodder for fans to feast on but truth is that was an anomaly that gives the present staff a reality check as to how bad it can get and a foundation to spring board off of. WHatever the case I wish youwould not use this as your rallying point because it is full of hole.....like get a better straw man.

VCU used to play off campus at the Richmond Coliseum which is about the size of the Convo and led to many empty seats.  Moving back to campus and a smaller and very nice arena was a huge boost to the program.

VCU beat Duke a few years ago in the tournament.  Then, they either don't get in or don't make it far the next year (I can't remember), and a couple years later, they're in the Final Four.

Ohio knocks of Georgetown, then sits out from the big dance a year... similarities?  Hopefully so.

I think the glass cieling is higher for us than it is for VCU.  The picture of their crowd was sweet.  Now, imagine that kind of support in the Convo.  We can always dream, can't we?

They replaced Capel and Grant so I think Norwood knows what he's doing. Also a lot easier to draw when you are in a league that has more than a handful of teams on TV and you're not in one of the poorest counties in the state. Some things you just can't change though.
