This game has been a great, back and forth affair with a trip to MSG on the line.  20+ lead changes.  On ESPN.

Great game so far.  Kent is repping the MAC well with wins at St Marys and Fairfield and playing tough in Boulder.  Still anyone's game, Burks has been a beast.  Leading scorer for CU, battling a sickness and even had an IV at the half.

Well, I got to watch the last few minutes of this game on ESPN3, on my laptop. I think I've had enough disappointment for one night, so I'm going to bed. Kent had its chances down the stretch, but they couldn't hit the key shots to keep them in the game late.

Kent St loses only Sherman off this team that won the MAC regular season, reached the MAC title game and reached the NIT quarters. They should be a very strong favorite to win the MAC next year.  Kent State has a certain toughness to them.  Green and Manns are a load inside and their guards are very good. Porrini defense is special. They will have a far better bench next year with everyone back. They could really help the MAC rebound in rpi. I would figure top 50 rpi for Kent st next year.

It would be nice to hear/read that we are tough and known for our defense.  Can only go so far without these two things.

Which of course means they will underachieve all year, be up and down, and end up in the middle of the pack.  It's the MAC favorite formula.

Does Geno get looked at for some of the "bigger" jobs this spring?

It tough being the favorite in the MAC because the expectation is NCAA tournament or your season was a failure. I comes down to 3 nites in Cleveland. I think next year the MAC might make a huge comeback. There will be less easy wins in the MAC next year. I think Kent gets better but so will the bottom of the MAC.  Middle of the MAC will be better as Buffalo and CMU with Mccrae and Zeiglar will be much better.

Would anyone agree that Manns showed more improvement than Akron's Zeke Marshall during the last month of the season?

I doubt it.  I would be leary because of his reliance on JUCOs at this point. Plus he's never taken a team to the tournament.  Not saying he hasn't done a good job but he doesn't have enough of a track record yet.

Do you mean like winning the MAC then beating Georgetown to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament?  Yeah, we can only hope to be as good as Kent State and their "defense."

Good call cat4ever.

Van--We got hot over four games due to pretty good back court play--otherwise a pretty lackluster team--no particular toughness.  You need to study your Terren Harbut more.

I'm dumbfounded that there are people in northeast Ohio looking for Ford's ouster (at least if you read the Ravenna paper referenced on the BA front page.).

If it's legitimate that folks up there are grumbly then maybe Geno needs to get out while the gettins good.

I thought the point of the article is that there is speculation that a bigger school may end up seeking Geno's services.
