I believe TuneIn Radio is $.99 for the IPhone.  I was able to listen to the NIU game Sunday through Stretch Internet.  They have a mobile web page with a link to play the audio stream from ohiobobcats.com for free.  Best way I've found to do it on my IPhone.

Yep. The video feed works great on Androids and iphones. No app to download.

Watching games on my Droid works better than just about any other video player out there. I watched the entire Miami game on my phone and had zero issues the whole time. Technology is indeed awesome.

I appreciate the thoughts...I am intrigued by the Android platform, but I really have not liked Motorola in the past.  I thought I'd look at Samsung's Android phones (like the Samsung Fascinate) if I went that route.  I've seen way too many horror stories with Motorola phones in the past...Maybe they've become more reliable in the data phone era.

I really like my Droid 2.  I'm a fan of a physical keyboard, but if forced to, I could probably become efficient with the on screen keyboard.  The androids are more "open" and I like that.  I like that I can connect my phone to my laptop and use it as a wireless modem without being charged a separate monthly fee.

If you are on AT&T I'd say hold out for the Motorola Atrix.  If you like Verizon, I'd hold out for the Bionic.  I don't see much sense in getting anything but a 4G phone at this point.  All these people are jumping on the Verizon iPhone but it's already old technology and the iPhone 5 will be out soon.  Not to mention Apple apparently didn't even fix the antenna issue for the Verizon version. 

I really like the Android platform, mainly because most apps are free with minimal intrusion of advertising. I got the Droid 2 in November, and the primary fear of not having one before was A) it's more stuff than I'll ever need, so why pay for it and B) I'll break it because I'm a clumsy oaf.

I've now dropped or fallen on it three times, and it's still fine. And I don't know how I lived without texting or email at my fingertip.

Thus ends my turn as a cell phone salesman. My main point was that for all the complaining about how hard it is to follow OU sports with buggy webcasts and minimal TV exposure, we have very short memories.

Depending on th device, it is best to go out to the Android Market and download the Facebook and/or Twitter app. I buy and test phones for a living and we often see failures on some pre-installed apps from the OEM (Samsung, LG, HTC, etc.).

Android is the best of the products mentioned. Anything running Android 2.2 (with a 1GHz processor or better) supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1. Adobe Flash Player is a big deal as ~70% of web pages require this to view video. iPhone/iPad do not support Adobe Flash Player. In addition, 2.2 supports saving apps from the Marketplace to your Micro SDCard.

If you are considering a Verizon iPhone4, I would pass or wait for the following reasons:

- The design is old and a new ID should be announced soon
- It does not run on V's 4G Network. V's 3G download speeds are 1.5Mbps at best
- You cannot browse or use any data while on a voice call. CDMA does not support (Sprint, Verizon)

While more iPhones have sold than any one Android based model (Samsung Vibrant as an example), the Android OS has now surpassed Apples iPhone OS and become No.1 overall. Android gives you more handset models to pick from as well.

Make sure you confirm an upgrade path if you do buy an Android phone. Again, 2.2 would be the minimum IMO. Honeycomb (Android 3.0) is being build specific to tablets such as the upcoming Motorola Xoom which is better than the iPad (as is the upcoming Blackberry Playbook).

Ted - I will shoot you an IM and I will give you my opinion. It is really hard to say which carrier is better vs which phone. It even varies pretty noticeably by city and the importance placed on the city by the carrier. By definition, the 4G being advertised is not true 4G. If so, the download speeds would be 100 Mbps. Next time you see a 4G hyped commercial look at the fine print on the bottom of your TV.

Network speeds are not just dependent on the amount of cell sites. It comes down to data capacity within the cluster. In addition, just to get HSPA+ Speeds (actual DL of about 6Mbps) require Ethernet or fiber to be ran to the cell site (backhaul).

Anyway - somewhat boring I know. IMO, some of the best phone-to-carrier combo's are (excluding regional carriers who actually provide some of the fastest speeds. For example, Cincinnati Bell provides the best DL speeds in town despite the national carrier claims):

The best Blackberry I have tested is the Torch (9800). Touch screen is awesome and the slide QWERTY keyboard is sweet. However, you can only get this device from AT&T. Even if you unlock the 9800, it does not support T-Mo's 3G network bands (1700/2100) but is backwards compatible to the EDGE network (9800 is GSM based technology so will not work on Sprint or Verizon).

I like to watch the feeds on my IPad, but strangely I find that the broadcast is about 15 to 20 seconds slower on an IPad than on my laptop. I find it strange, but when I'm wasting time waiting for a game to start, I can flip it open and catch some of the home games. It truly is amazing how far its come so quickly. And once baseball season starts, having any MLB game available wherever I am is quite addictive.

How far we've come from 15+ years ago when we had to resort to watching the Headline News ticker just to get score updates.

Wow what a timely topic.  I'm up for a new phone from Verizon.  Any advice on should I get a Droid now or wait for their 4Gs which are due real out soon?
