WIth "Basketball Wives" as a staple on  cable and now that I have first hand seen girls trying to pull off what Bonzi's baby mama did  with greater frequency than I would have thought it has become harder to discern what is really happening out there. Whether the young men here have no moral compass or the constant onslaught of offerings leaves them confused the problem is not going away.

Bonzi pays 10K a week child support. That is obscene and has been denied revision by local courts even though he has been out of the league a few years now. The female judge seems to think that earning power stays even when the body goes. Lots of mothers encouraging their female progeny to git you a basketball player on the rise and at least get pregnant even if you do not plan on spending the rest of your life with the guy. I have a young man here who will matriculate to a Big East school next year that has a 3 year old. Though I try to counsel kids it is so frustrating as the culture is not about the future but the now. I talked at length with a young man 2 weeks ago the next ten weeks being the hardest 10 weeks of his llife. I have known him since 3rd grade and he is headed off to an SEC school where he is in all probability going to be one and done. Whether my words about the 3 p's will get him through the next 10 weeks and he shows up June 8th in shape with no baggage and heads to the draft in a year unscathed will mean anything I don't know but I will surely be asking him how he did when I see him in years to come. .

OTOH the males here have no repercussions in many cases and merely transfer or have charges dropped in legitmate cases making the whole mess a he said/she said thing and in many cases bad kids survive unscathed while others get overprosecuted. This morass that is surrounding these kids is disheartening and disgusting. Not sure what the answer is except to keep trying to talk sense into the ones anyone has a rapport with.
