Players on the KSU basketball team were upset they learned about Ford’s departure via a press release on Bradley University’s website, rather than in person from their coach.
“It’s not that he left,” KSU forward Justin Greene said previously. “I know this is a business. It’s how he left. You couldn’t tell us?”

Just noticed this part of the article.  That's pretty weak on Geno's part.

I'm not surprised by this... it's a broken record every time a coach leaves. a Deal is struck on one campus and news is broken before the coach can get home to his old school.  I doubt the coach has any real control over that.

Bradley released the news minutes after Ford signed the contract. Kind of a jerk move on their part.

This is where the new coach has to put his foot down and demand to be given the opportunity to break it to his kids first.  There is no legitimate reason that Bradley has to release the information right then. Obviously they want to do it as soon as possible but the coach owes it to his old team to tell them.

Isn't this the same manner in which Geno left Muskingum a few years back........the team found out in the paper if I remember correctly?

From what I read, Bradley sat  him down, put a pen in his hand, and made him sign right then and there. He asked for a day and was refused. Can you turn down half a million just to do the "right thing"? Hard to say.

As Sonny told "C" in A Bronx Table, "Why do you care about Mickey Mantle? Does Mickey Mantle care about you? Does he put food on your table?" Insert Geno Ford. Boo hoo.
