Jeff Goodman and Mavunga say so, but there hasn't been an official announcement. If so, you have to think he, and not Jermaine, will be Charlie's successor. It's a total coup for Miami.

But maybe it's just a quick stopover for Lickliter until he finds a head coaching job elsewhere.

I thought Jermaine Henderson as coach in waiting was an unwritten certainty.

Maybe this throws that into doubt... maybe not.

I wonder if Lickliter is working for close to free after his previous buyout. Miami's too broke to pay top dollar.

I have to think this is the case especially with Jermaine Henderson still there.

I'd be more inclined to agree if he were recently unemployed, but he left Iowa a while ago.

I don't have any inside info, but my guess is that Jermaine is a lock for the head coaching job.  Unless he's committed some major breach, I'm thinking Charlie will be loyal to him.

I predict Lickliter will be an asst coach at Miami for one year and will obtain a midmajor head coaching job after that.

I know Miami has a fine basketball tradition, but honestly, I'm wondering how desireable a destination it is now for coaches like Lickliter.  Consider the ascendancy of hockey at Miami, the low average attendance for basketball, and the condition of Millett Hall (unless there are plans to upgrade Millett that I'm unaware of).

And, the low salary at Miami and other MAC schools.

Note that BUGS is planning major salary upgrades for both their head and assistant coaches in the near future using some of the proceeds (interest earnings) of their new endowment.  Will other MAC schools be forced to play catchup?  Or, will the Falcons simply price themselves out of the MAC?

Quite the opposite. BG has to catch up to the MAC. The Falcons are dead last in basketball spending; Ohio spent more than twice as much as Bowling Green in 2010. BG is firmly entrenched in the bottom third of Division I. It's going to take some years and even more money to get them moving. Louis Orr isn't doing anything for them.

Now there's speculation Lickliter might be offered the open OSU assistant position.  Perhaps he jumped into Oxford too soon.

Along with Lickliter, The Columbus Dispatch also mentions Kevin Kuwik as a possible candidate for the OSU job.
