Buffalo offered Will Regan in 8th grade, and finally got their man!  This 6'8''  three star makes his way to Buffalo after a year sojourn in Charlottesville.  It is a good pick up for Buffalo and Will is back in his hometown area.  He was unable to get the minutes he wanted under Tony Bennett, but was not patient enough to wait for his time, or liked the Buffalo snow and family life in Buffalo more Jefferson's university.  Good kid and academically very strong.  He should be starting for Buffalo after sitting out a year.

Regan commits to play at UB

Will Regan, the former Western New York prep star who opted out of the University of Virginia men’s basketball program after his freshman season, will continue his career at the University at Buffalo.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Amherst gave the Bulls a verbal commitment Monday, his father, Larry Regan, said. His signing will be officially announced later today. He will have three years of eligibility after sitting out next season due to NCAA transfer rules.

UB first offered Regan a scholarship when he was in eighth grade, before he became a high major recruit and the 2009 New York State Class A Player of the Year.

While leading Nichols to a state championship in his senior season, Regan signed with Virginia. He was the first member of a touted recruiting class for new coach Tony Bennett. But Regan averaged just 6.6 minutes per game in 20 appearances during his freshman season. He was an ACC all-academic selection, but the lack of playing time and other personal factors compelled Regan to announce in April that he would be transferring.

Regan visited St. Joseph’s and Penn before taking his official visit to UB last week. He was scheduled to visit Niagara today, but canceled late Monday night after making his commitment to UB.

Regan was an absolute stud in high school. He played at Nichols, a private school in my school's league and tore things up. He was a 3 star recruit according to most sites. He's a nice pickup for UB even though he will have to sit out next year.
