I asked Groce about the Wright St. game at last night's Caravan. He said it is tentatively set for Saturday, December 17th. He said it could change based upon other contractual obligations but that's where it's at for now.

Should be a nice, do-able road trip for many Bobcat fans.  Nice area, nice venue.

Did you ask him about Juco centers?

No. Someone asked him about the center situation. Said it would be by committee. Smith would have a chance to earn big minutes and they could slide Ivo over. Said not to count out Jacobs. Would have liked to have redshirted Jacobs but couldn't due to the late defections prior to the start of the season. Talked about the incoming recruits and no mention that there might be another addition to the class.

I don't know about that but I at least now know how A&M fans must feel about playing UC, UD, OU, MU, etc.  I'd really, really, really hate to lose this one.

I'd rather play The University of Rio Grande, Muskingum College, Marietta College in the Southeastern Ohio Holiday Invitational than play Wright State.  And, I'd feel better losing to one of that pack than Wrong State.  It's a long story, but I just don't like them.  I don't expect others to agree, unless you worked at OU-COM circa 1978.

This is the return game for the bracketbuster. This is a solid team to play in the preseason.  This game is supposed to prepare us to play against the MAC in January.  I would play Wright State every year. This is a game just like what we would see in the MAC.  You gotta find out what this team in made of against a good Horizon League team.  This would let the coach know where his team is at 2-3 weeks from the start of the MAC schedule. We lost to IUPUI and Robert Morris at home last year and as expected we got off to a mediocre start in the MAC schedule that cost us a bye and top seed come March. I like playing teams like Wright State as it also gives alumni and fans a game to attend on the road. Wright State isn't a bad RPI game.  Its better than playing Norfolk State. I would play Marshall and Wright State every year along with Cleveland State and Youngstown State.  These are cheap road trips. You probably could get STO to show some of these games.

Finally a game I can walk to from my office!

I only had to wait 12 years for OU to come to my back yard.

OU played at WSU a couple times back in the 90's. WSU fans used to have a tradition (don't know if they still do it) of standing up until WSU scores. OU went ahead 18-0 in one of those games and all the stupid WSU fans were still standing up. My kids and I were sitting down and cheering like crazy! And I wouldn't call it a nice venue until you've walked in a blizzard from the back parking lot or made the trek up the steps of the arena. I hate WSU about as much as OhioCatFan does. We cannot lose this game!

My "tenure" here at WSU didn't begin until 1999 so it will be the first time I'll get to see OU in my backyard. Literally. I can see the Nutter Center from my backyard when there aren't any leaves. This should be a yearly match up IMO. We play in every other sport (women's basketball, baseball, softball etc).

The "stand until we score" tradition was long gone by the time I became a student. But honestly I'll be shocked if OU wins this game. WSU is a tough out at home and Billy is an amazing head coach. Not to mention there's no Gary Trent talent for OU this time around. WSU beat Miami so bad last year I was sure Miami would end up a bottom half of the MAC type team. That was until they swept us and I realized how much better WSU was than OU last year. Sad to say it but it's true.

I dont quite agree with your logic. And im pretty sure Gary Trent was not playing in 2010 when we beat Wright State either.....

Obviously 2010 was in the Convo. OU hasn't been in the Nutter Center since the Gary Trent days (even though he didn't play that game...I believe Geno had a huge game in an easy OU win that year).

I'm not saying OU won't win or that they can't win, just that I doubt it. WSU is leaps and bounds better now than they were in the 90s and OU isn't nearly as good as they were back then IMO. If the game were in Athens I'd pick OU but since it's in Dayton....have to go with the Raiders.

Either way I'll be cheering on the Bobcats from "home" for the first time ever and that's something to be excited about.

As I recall, the last time Ohio played in the Nutter Center was during the Wilderness Campaign, which was a few years after Trent left.  Ohio only won five games that year, and one of them was at Wright St.  I was in attendance.

Agree that this will be a tough game next season for OU.

I'm not that knowledgable about Wright State's bench or their recruits but their top 4 scorers were seniors this year.  They don't return a single player who played 20 minutes a game.

I'm the first guy to question our talent and depth at center and power forward, but I'll say now that we'll whup most teams that don't have a decent front court advantage on us.  I like our point guard position and the returning talent at shooting guard and small forward.  All the more so if a few guys decide that playing defense is worth the effort.

WSU should be a W for us.

Right. They had two very good players, Vaughn Duggins and N'Gai Evans. They are both gone along with two other seniors. They won't be nearly as good as they were last year, and they weren't that good last year - 17-14 against D-I teams, and 10-8 in the Horizon League. If we don't win this game I will be very disappointed.
