Watched this game on ESPN+. The ladies lost a close game. We looked very good in spurts, but had no cohesion. YaYa looked like the best OHIO player on the court. Where is Mace? Is she injured? Longwood had a very aggressive D that really seemed to rattle us. It was one of the most aggressive defenses I've seen in women's basketball -- they pressed all of the time and prevented us from getting setup for our plays and shots. This team has a lot of rough spots, but will hopefully get better as the season progresses.

Marty Bannister said during the LIU broadcast that both Mace and Guice are out for the season with ACL injuries. Guice has now had ACL injuries to both knees.

It may have gotten worse last night, as Jasmine Hale went down in the second half with what looked like an injured knee. The Bobcats' roster of 14 already looks pretty thin - Alexandra Antonova has not dressed for either game, and neither has Aja Austin, a transfer from Delaware. Austin had an ACL injury in high school, and only played in four games last season as a freshman for the Blue Hens -- all in January for a total of 12 minutes. Freshman Cassidy Lafler DNP against LIU, and was only in for 2 minutes last night. Unless things improve rapidly, Ohio may be playing with only 8 or 9 effectives on the roster against the Buckeyes next week.

Ugh! That sounds horrible. The injury bug is really biting bad.

Guice burned a year of eligibility last year coming off off of an ACL tear just to play in the MAC tournament when they, as seemingly always, were down to a really thin roster. This leads me to believe that she could still get an injury redshirt. However, and I don't want to act like I know anything here, the fact that she played last year leads me to think that she intends to leave school once she gets her degree and isn't interested in using COVID, redshirts, and injury redshirts to rack up master's degrees like BVP. It is realistic to think that we have seen the last of Guice's basketball career.
