7 p.m. on ESPN 3. Like the men, they lost 3 key players. Picked 7th, but have the talent to put together a good season.

Go OHIO!

p.s Who knows the significance of LIU in the history of Ohio basketball?

They lost to LIU. Guice and Mace didn't play. This will likely be a bad loss. If last night was an indication the women's MAC does not look as tough as it has for the past decade or so.

Not only that, but the younger (and possibly better) Hale did not play, Sasha and Aja did not dress. The late add, Kailah Johnson, had a great debut though. This program has a health curse, doesn't it.

It was tough to watch in person for the majority of the game. The ladies fought back and did take the lead in the 3rd, and part of me thought LIU might fold and we pull out an ugly W, but it went the other direction. 13 missed free throws, lots of ugly turnovers, shot 35% from the floor for the game...it was tough.

Starters for this already decimated team were Caitlyn Kroll, Kate Dennis, Ella Pope, Yaya Felder, and Jasmine Hale.

I was really surprised to see Felder not only not play a whole lot, not score a whole lot, but really not even be involved much in the offense outside of shooting threes. Expected her to drive more to the basket than she did. Dennis did hit a few threes and it seems that's going to be her role, as a three point specialist. Seemed like she fits in a lot better with this team than last year's. Pope, is a tough, physical player. Felt like she was the best player on the floor for several stretches. She made a lot of good plays and outrebounded taller players. Hale just had an awful game. Couldn't score and turned it over a lot. The newcomers Johnson and McClure provided nice scoring punch off the bench. Garnett did okay especially having that huge contraption on her knee. It helped better than whatever Kroll was doing. She's the leader of the team and about the only one who could hit her free throws. Went down bad, twice. Came back in both times. Tough girl who gives everything to be out there. Finally, if Antonova and Lafler were healthy, since they didn't play in this game, I would be surprised to see much of anything from them this season.

Defensively, the team really struggled to have an answer for LIU's tiny, quick point guard, who outshined everybody. And while it is a bad loss, it seemed like LIU knew exactly who they were from the tip-off. #1 was their playmaker and scorer, #13 was their main post player and rebounder, and #12 was the spark plug off the bench. Everyone else was complementary and seemed to know their role. OU is still figuring a lot out with the decimated roster.

Speaking of LIU, they really missed out by not making their mascot the Iced Teas instead of the sharks. Are there many sharks that far north in the Atlantic and that close to shore?

If you don't go to women's games, you should, if for no other reason than to get a kick out of some of the things Bob Boldon says in conversations with the officials.
