Ohio State's schedule lists a game against Ohio on November 17 - in Athens.
That's great news. Somehow we manage to play them pretty often unlike on the men's side. We did beat them last time in a wild game. I'm sure their players will be informed of that.

I also remember what is likely the biggest loss in Ohio women's history, although I can't substantiate this. It happened around 2005 when Lynn Bria was our coach. It was near the beginning of the season and she was experimenting with a bizarre strategy that turned out disastrous and didn't last too long. For that entire game, she rotated her entire lineup about every 2 minutes, maybe less.
We lost by 70, 107-37.

p.s. This info was obtained from THE ohio state u. website, which is so much better than what Ohio offers on their website.

I remember watching that on ONN or someplace. It was a home game in the Convo. They looked like they were playing an entirely different sport than we were.

Perhaps they should talk. Ohio State's website lists the game in Athens for Thursday, November 17. Ohio's website has it scheduled for Tuesday, November 15.

I sat right behind the scorer's table for that game. I watched the representative from Ohio routinely ask the lady on the PA mic to refer to us as Ohio. She just wouldn't do it. She said Ohio U, Ohio University, Bobcats...never Ohio. I really really wanted to ask her after the game if we finally earned the name Ohio in her head but I resisted.

She should have been reported to the Ohio State University Athletic Department, because after the "Battle of Ohio" settlement signed by the presidents of both universities, it's been OSU policy to refer to us as Ohio. They don't like it, but they've been very consistent about it. All of their official releases that I've seen after an athletic contest between the two schools have referred to us as Ohio, and there scoreboards have said "Ohio State vs. Ohio." Prior to the agreement, they would routinely have "Ohio State vs. Ohio U." The lady needed a reprimand for violating OSU policy.

To be honest watching her on the mic from a few feet away, I really don't think it was even deliberate. It was like ingrained in her body.

Still she was violating OSU policy post-settlement. And, much to my surprise they’ve been pretty good at following it. The hometown paper, the Columbus Disgrace, of course, is not bound by that agreement, and they’ve not had a consistent policy about our name.

But are we not Ohio University? Were we founded in 1804 as "Ohio"? And does Ohio University not correlate with Ohio U. This whole issue eludes me.

We were actually founded as The Ohio University. That's the way our charter reads. However, if they called that school in Columbus Ohio State U., then I'm ok with us being called Ohio U. Just want equal treatment. But, OSU has a policy that they agreed to, this gal was not following it.

David McCullough's book "The Pioneers" talks quite a bit about the founding of "The Ohio University", including The Ohio Company naming the town where it
would be built "Athens" as a "nod" to Athens ,Greece.

As an aside, it is a great book .

I really think you need to file a new lawsuit on behalf of all OHIO graduates, for The's violation of this legal agreement.

Nice guess, Rice Paddy Grunt. My license plate is my amateur radio callsign -- N8VZ. Maybe you are getting me mixed up with another former GWC Board member.

Most of these game times are set. The final OOC game between Christmas and New Year's is @Columbia.

We got picked to finish 7th in the MAC in the preseason coaches poll. Think they voted us a bit lower than I would predict, think we are in for a great season with the additions we have made.

We can cross our fingers. If you look at the poll the coaches see Toledo, five contenders, and six also-rans. That feels like their opinion is Ohio #7 with a lot more downside in that ranking than upside. I feel like Bolden still has talent but without Cece, Erica, and Gabby if we have the same sorts of injury problems that we have had the last three seasons we might be in for a long season. The women's MAC has still had the depth that the men's MAC has lacked the last couple of years. There isn't a big gap between first to tenth.

I think Felder and Mace are going to have breakout years. I predict we will do much better than these projections because of good overall talent and much better team-oriented play.

They also need substantial contribution from at least one of Garnett or Pope and need Guice and Kroll to be healthy and playing like they are able.

Agreed. I was just pointing out two players that I think will be major contributors and have improved numbers.

Another 2023 commit, Asiah Baxter, 5'11 G/F from Warren Central, IN. She also had offers from IUPUI, IPFW, and possibly Loyola (IL)

^Can do a little bit of everything decently well - threes, mid range, post ups, and putbacks.

Bob doesn't emphasize post players much, does he? Seems the roster makeup is usually two point guards, a whole bunch of mid size G/F types, and one or two post players.
