See the link on today's news stories.

This is a sign that the MAC may be in the early days of a resurgence.  The league has a long, long way to go to return to respectability, but when you see things like this, it may mean an increase in talent level in the league.  The only other mid major player invited was from North Texas.

McCrea is a sign of Reggie/Buffalo oddly being in the right town the right time.

And the guy from NTSU, assuming he's Tony Mitchell, is not a mid-major recruit in the least. Couldn't get eligible at Mizzou, has likely corrupt AAU background.

Hey, you need a little bit of luck. One could argue Butler had some luck with Hayward.

McCrea has officially made the USA under 19 team. Pretty cool news for UB and for the MAC. McCrea has the tools to become a beast and he has three years remaining at UB.

UB could be a team to watch the next few years as McCrea continues to develop and they add Reagan from Virginia after this year and who knows who else they'll pick up from recruiting

Shouldn't this help the league a whole lot as everyone tries to compete against this star talent?!

Congrats to McCrea - that kid has the talent to dominate the MAC in the years ahead.

McCrea didn't end up making the team after all. He was the last person cut today as the team was finalized from 14 to 13. Kinda sucks. He was so close to making the team.

At what level of basketball would you EVER need 3 point guards on a 12 man roster, especially when your issue is defense?

“The selection was harder than I expected. The young man we decided not to keep, Javon McCrae, it was really just a numbers situation, he played more than well enough to make the team. We just didn’t feel comfortable going over there without three point guards,” Hewitt stated.

Sometimes a slight of this nature motivates a kid to go to the next level.  We'll see how he handles it.  As Coach Witherspoon said, just being part of this process should help McCrea.

It's very rare for a team not to have three point guards on a roster. You've got to have a backup, and when you're talking about a situation for multiple games, you never know when an injury or something can take one out of the picture. It's easy to believe a third point guard never will play, but David McKinley has received his share of important minutes over the last couple of years.

As for McCrea, the guy made a huge impact as a freshman. I expect him to be a first-team All-MAC player this year now that he'll probably be Buffalo's go-to guy offensively.

No disrespect intended to David or the McKinley family, but would he be considered part of a 12 man roster? If I remember correctly, I think you are allowed 12 scholarship players plus a few walk-ons, which he was his freshman season (I guess he still is, someone clear this up for me.)  With the turnover issues that we have had in the last few years, I would have to think that he has received more playing time than a normal 3rd string PG, and even that is not all that much.

Team USA has been blown out in both of it's exhibition games due to poor shooting from beyond the arc.  I have a feeling that a ~60% shooter who attacks the basket would be much more effective, but that is just my opinion.

13 scholarships on the Men's side, 15 on the Women's side. You do have a roster limit on top of that, but that is for the most part set by each school.

And 2-0 in tournament play. International basketball is played further out from the basket.
