That Rock 'n Roll Shootout game was UGLY. Painful memories of that one...was one of my first inklings that TOS may not be taking us to the proverbial "next level".

Amen.  My wife and I were there and it was one of the most dismal moments in my Bobcat fan career.  Nothing seemed to go right that day.  Then the game was dreadful, the crowd was small and not into it, etc.

Wasn't the Wisconsin home game the one where we had a big first half lead that disappeared at the end of the half and was capped by some Badger guard throwing up a "no look" over the head three-point shot from the corner at the end of the half to tie it (or come close) at half-time?  That's what I think I remember. Can anyone confirm or deny the proper functioning of my synpases?

Absolutely.  That image is stuck in my head.

The Wisconsin Rock N' Roll game will NEVER compare to the Kansas beatdowns in terms of disappointment.

In terms of disappointment? Did you really expect us to be competitive in those games against Kansas? I never had any thought of that happening personally.

I was at the Kansas game in Las Vegas last year, first row, five seats off the baseline.  Conclusion:  They had a lot more talent, depth, size and experience than we had.  We didn't have much of a chance.  I believe that Tommy got knocked out of that game late in the first half, so there went a lot of our talent and experience.

Would I play Kansas again?  Every time.

You probably never thought we had a chance to beat DePaul in the Nee Era, or UCONN and Syracuse in the Hunter Era, or Georgetown in the current era either did you?

While I'm sure most of us don't "expect" wins, we do expect a quasi competitive and entertaining game. In both instances that we have taken on Kansas, we have been FAR from competitive. That's what is disappointing.

Get real, DePaul was in the Convo wher Danny Née owned the opponent, and we went two games into the NCAA Tournament. UConn was a neutral Court and our do it all got in a fight with their best player and both got ejected, we then had the best player on the floor, Ohio was MAC Champions and won 24 games. Georgetown was a neutral court, we won the MAC and we played two NCAA games. Kansas was by far the best of those teams and we played in Rock Chalk Jay Hawk Country, and our team was middle of the pack in the MAC. All the other games I liked and we had a chance. Kansas was a game we were over I head!!!!

Have you forgotten?  Your previous post put the Kansas and Wisconsin Rock N' Roll game in the same category.  And, most people in Athens at the time, didn't think we had much chance against DePaul.  UConn was an upset.  Syracuse was on their court in their own tournament on their own floor.  As I recall it was the first time that they failed to reach the finals of their own tourney.   Hindsight is always perfect!

, I never said one word about Wisconsin or the Roc-n-roll game, I simply copied another post to comment on our two Kansas games and my point was the games being Kansas But if you want to throw Wisconsin in there, the Cats did not field a real competitive team at the National level either My point is in each of the games I mentioned you mentioned, Ohio had legitimate and successful teams, won either the MAC or MACC and made the NCAA tournament each time, twice making the 2nd round. The teams that played Kansas were not competitive in the league at the upper levels, much less nationally!

That Wisconsin guard was one Devin Harris I believe.  I was at the game in Wisconsin (my Dad is a Badger alum)...We started out kicking their butts, something like 12-2.  Then it all went to hell.

Well you quote BL talking about both the Kansas games and the R&R Wisconsin game.  Then in your reply right below the quote you refer to "games" in the plural.  So I inferred that you thought neither the Kansas contests nor the R&R Wisconsin game was winnable.  I was just pointing out that through the years the 'Cats have gotten "Ws" against  a lot of teams that appeared on paper to be much better.  Your point about the quality of the Ohio teams those particular years is noted and agreed to.

Yeah, I remember thinking "wow, we might actually beat these guys"...and then came that shot. Same sort of feeling I had at the O$U football game with Parson's muffed punt. So close, but yet so far from a program-defining victory.

That shot we're talking about was in the game IN ATHENS.  I assume you're talking about the same shot I mentioned earlier in the thread -- the no-look over the shoulder three-point bomb from the corner at the end of the first half.
