Well since there was no announcement yesterday I am going to conclude that we have not and may not fill that last scholarship spot.  After all we did not use all the scholarships available last year.
If we go into next year without using all the resources at our disposal there will be one question asked, why?

You can go here (http://www.bobcatattack.com/basketball/recruiting.asp) to see people we are recruiting.

Just because we didn't sign someone first day doesn't mean we are sitting on the final scholarship.

Agreed.  Most schools don't announce spring signees on the first day of the signing period (unlike during the fall).  For instance, one player we are reportedly recruiting (Daquan Brown) is scheduled to visit Pepperdine tomorrow according to Rivals, so there is no way he'll make his decision before then.

My favorite Michigan prep player, LaDontae Henton, was just released from his LOI to Dayton.  Basketball people in the area say the MAC is all over him but he probably wants to go bigger.

Henton is basically an undersized (6'4"-6'6") post player with a developing wing game.  Projects to a combo forward, 3/4 role. He absolutely overpowered people in high school and they call him "Buckets" because of his outstanding scoring and rebounding numbers.  He was a shoe-in for Mr. Basketball but got robbed by some strange regionalism and favoritism.

Another guy I'd take at OU in a heartbeat.

He is a solidly built guy for sure but I know the sort of physique I think you're alluding to and, no, he's not that thick, squat MAC power forward.  Because of his height, he's been working on developing more of a perimeter game.  I wouldn't bet against him.  Familiar with Gary, Indiana 5-star Branden Dawson?  Less athleticism and skills but same sort of player with some of the same pluses and minuses.

Here's an older vid from last year.
Henton was really robbed out of Mr. Basketball.  Put up huge Jr and Sr numbers (25/15) during a deep Class A title runs.

More than a dozen schools have announced 2011 late period verbals already today.

I assume the April 12th news was the announcement of the 10th anniversary of BobcatAttack.com!!!  Also, Do we really have 1 scholarship left?  Who is Nick Goff from Nick Kellogg's HS that is transferring from North Texas?  Does he get a scholarship? Or was he already counted?

Goff is a non-scholarship walk-on.

Most won't have late signings so it won't be that many.

hmmmmmm....should I go to Pepperdine, which overlooks the ocean and beach at Malibu, or come to Ohio and Athens? Tough choice.

Giacomo's blurb reminds me of when TOS was working on possibly scheduling Pepperdine to come to Athens for a game (which never happened).  On his radio show, TOS make a wisecrack to the effect that "I'm sure those guys from Pepperdine would appreciate coming to Athens and seeing how nice it is around here, especially in the winter".  I cringed when I thought about how some folks around here didn't feel close to him anyway, and then to hear a wisecrack like that!

For all their recruiting advantages, Pepperdine hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in recent years in the WCC.

All joking aside, you're right- the coach shouldn't be making cracks like that about the town. If the kid is not from the west coast and his parents aren't wealthy enough to fly out and see him play, he's not going to Pepperdine, unless he wants to study oceanography. Athens is a great college town.

Well if it helps you to make his choice for him then consider that he did his high school balling in New York City.

So IF after 2 years on the opposite coast he yearns to be closer to home and Ohio is the biggest D-1 name giving him a serious look......

Ted, your list omitted David McKinley from the point guard position.  He's been here two years and has proved himself a good teammate and practice player.  When he gets on the court, he's also done well.

Just a list of scholarship players so we can track scholarship numbers.
