Was checking out the "What To expect from the Mid-Majors" article from ESPN and I guess I shouldn't be surprised there is not a mention of OHIO or its players.  Akron and WMU are picked to win their divisions with Kent State and Ball State as their main competitors.  And it singled out CMU's Ziegler as the X-Factor player and Akron's Cvetinovic as the MVP.  Slightly surprised DJ didn't get a mention, but then I remember every time we have ever been mentioned in preseason talk we failed to live up to expectations.  The years we are given lower expectations we tend to overachieve so I guess I'm good with that pattern for now.

Although i do like hearing about our players i also like not having to live up to expectations set before a season by the media. The guys should be focus on just playing good basketball and I think they will be. Go Cats!

I agree.  Weren't we ESPN's "It" team a few years back for the Mid-Majors?  If I remember correctly we finished that campaign with an average record, no post-season, and did not live up to the lofty expectations.  When you know you might have the makings of a special team, under the radar is an ideal location to be.

In the "Ranking the conferences" article Ohio is mentioned as one of the 3 teams that could Kent and Akron, the schools they say are the favorites.

Oh, and the MAC was ranked as the 17th best conference, with the writers stating that if Zeigler has a big year, the league will be ranked higher.  Not really sure why 1 guy will make that big a difference, but that's what they say.

Exactly.  Also might put a chip on the team's shoulders.  I think the last time they had one was the G'town game.

Not sure why anyone would get bent out of shape over this.  The MAC has earned it's ranking, or lack thereof, lately. Until proven otherwise we are the 17th best league out there...or worse.   Would love to see that change but until it happens we are what we are.
