Attendance for first game at their new Stroh Center: 3,476. Capacity is 4,280. Just sayin.

It's honestly sad how far their programs have fallen in terms of quality and attendance. I remember when crappy Anderson Arena was one of the toughest venues in the league. And Ted, can you imagine ever posting something like this on BobcatAttack? http://www.ay-ziggy-zoomba.com/2011/11/some-realizations/

For the MAC to get better as a whole, its members have to get better, and the Stroh Center seemed to be a step in that direction. Not selling it out on opening night is terrible.

We'll see what happens when BGSU plays some better OOC opponents and begins its MAC schedule.  I haven't given up yet on their basketball program getting back on track with attendance, etc.  But there IS a reason they only built a 4300 capacity building.

I attended opening night there for the Sanctus Real concert.  It's a nice venue.

I'll agree it's odd to read that kind of thinking on a fan board.  I'm sure we have some folks who check out our boards who feel that way, but I can't say that I remember reading any posts of that nature.  I can understand life's experiences changing priorities, but it's strange to read this on a fan board.

That number is still like twice what Eastern Michigan has for its football games.

That is distressing. Cant imagine any of our admins going through anything remotely resembling the excision of feelings for his home team like this fella has endured......but then.....I have never been able to fathom why anyone would attend that frozen flat Gulag they call a University anyway.

You know, I grew up about 40 miles SW of there and visited the campus once, for some kind of academic competition in March or April.  I thought it was a plain, dreary campus with no imagination.  Had a good idea what it's like in January and February.  Couldn't see myself there.  Went to OU sight unseen because of its terrific R-TV program (and the good looking blond on the cover of the catalog).

Good win vs Skyhawks. My Falcons battled pretty hard in Athens GA tonight. Had it at five late but made a couple turnovers and lost by nine. Attendance at the Convo tonight might have been reflective of two things- the opponent and the timing. Perhaps some students went home for the Veterans Day extra day weekend if the Bobcats still take that day off as a university. We do. Our attendance was impacted by those two factors- opponent and long weekend.

Plus we had to move the first game date due to our ESPNU appearance at Georgia being changed also by that network. We had a home hockey game 200 yards from the Stroh with reigning US Women's Figure Skating champion and BG grad Alissa Czsiny skating pregame. Our young women's team also opened simultaneously at UD- here the latter matters as we have 200 plus core women's fans who travel to every in state game. All of them also support the men and would have been at the Stroh guaranteed. A couple very local HS playoff games and you lose a few other interested fans.

Not making excuses. Those are just facts.

But the atmosphere in the Stroh? Excellent! This is a wonderful building. When the Bobcats visit, there will be posts about this or that in a negative sense from green and white fans. But most will be like the fellow above who came up for Sanctus Real and Tenth Ave North concert- it is a beautiful facility and built for US. Which is all that matters. Others might want- or need- something else. But we got what we wanted.

And he saw it without all the graphics and banners which are really cool- I really like the seven straight MAC champion women's bb banners. Pretty impressive.

Now if our men could just.............

Go Falcons!
