The Convo would work if the game were played in November, but once the students are gone, we'd lose a lot of home court advantage because there would likely be as many WVU fans there as ours. A December game should be scheduled for someplace like Cleveland or Columbus (Nationwide Arena would be good; seats 19,500 for basketball).
OHIO is moving to semesters next season so that will open up more opportunities to have a big crowd during December. The MAC is requiring schools to play at least 50% of their contests at home or neutral courts so in the context of this rule scheduling an early season tournament at home like we've been doing in recent years and visits by MEAC schools makes sense within that context. A game every year against WVU in Charleston would meet the MAC 50% rule so I favor that as an option. Play it mid December when the students are still in town and shuttle bus. The basketball schedule could use some spicing up overall. Wright State as a series makes sense. A few series against other comparable conferences like the WCC and MVC are nice. I would replace the Marietta game with a game in Charleston and Kennesaw State with a game on the road against an East Coast power like Maryland, Villanova or Syracuse to try and pick up a national TV appearance. There is so much potential for the program but the schedule has to be there to give this team a chance on the national stage. A schedule that will get the fans and donors excited and build pride in supporting it.
