It's my sad duty to report that former Ohio basketball player Larry Kruger, of Allensville, died on Dec. 9, 2011.  He was 71 years old.  As a high school student I attended most of the Ohio home basketball games, and he was a real favorite of mine.  He was the guy who always made the crucial shot, or caused the crucial turnover during "crunch time" of a close game.  He was a teammate of the late Bill Whaley, of Athens.  They were both Southeastern Ohio players who had legendary careers on the hardwood at Ohio University.   You can read Kruger's obituary here.  Rest in peace.  Your deeds of glory on the court will not be forgotten.

I hope they have a moment for him before tomorrow night's game.

Well said.  We always stop in Allensville at the Cross Creek General Store on our way to and from Athens.
