This team is fun to watch.  I think I need to find a way to get to Cleveland for the MAC tourney again this year.  If I wasn't going to the Bengals game in St. Louis the 18th I think I would have planned to watch them play Northern Iowa.

Priorities, brother, priorities!

I was saying the same thing all night about the baseline cameras.  That director was positively enamored with them!

They really took control in the second half -- 34-19.  Smith really came up big tonight; good to see.  Nice all-around effort.

I can't McKinney up Portland...They are not too good of a basketball team.  We took care of business tonight.

The team just looks comfortable and confident in themselves and eachother.  Lots of energy, no standing around...And much better ball handling skills all around, particularly Reggie.  I still think we can increase our higher percentage shots on offense at times, but it has definitely improved from last year.  Can't wait for Wright State and Northern Iowa....We take them out and we're looking at a special team.

I don't think Portland is a good team, either. But this sort of trip is the kind that's tripped up Ohio in recent years. So to get a double-digit, no-stress win impresses me.

And for selfish reasons, I  loved having a  Bobcat game to tune into at 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. Got back from work and was able to watch in its entirety.

Portland's in for a long season, but there's no such thing as a bad road win. Was a little worried when we got down five, but we finished the half strong and carried it over. Good to see Smith contribute.

This announcer sounds like Warren Swain.

I was thinking the same thing listening to it especially after the 4th variation of Ivo's name.  We had Eye-vo, Ee-vo, Ivan and my favorite Walter Baltic.

Portland is really young.  They only have two seniors on the team and only one plays (Nemanja Mitrovic).  The announcer touched on it but he's having a terrible season. Last year he hit on more than 46% of this 3s but he's only hitting 30% this year.  They have one junior in Derrick Rodgers who is more or less a cypher. The rest of the team is all freshmen and sophomores.   Their biggest problem in my opinion other than the obvious complete lack of athleticism is they don't have a single guard that can create from what I saw.

Big shout out for what I hope was the coming out party of Jon Smith.  He was active from the get-go and looked confident for once.  Keep it going big Jon.  I guess big white stiffs agree with him.

Another big up was our rebounding. The Pilots got two offensive rebounds and I don't remember either of them.

Ricardo Johnson continues to improve. I thought he was the key to a couple of runs yesterday because he brought energy to the court that was lacking.  It was like their style had us sleepwalking for a while but Johnson helped wake us up.

Lastly, we need Armon Bassett to come in and give a clinic on how to draw a foul.  I complained loudly about the officiating in the Louisville and Marshall games but a lot of that is on us. We just don't seek out the contact on drives, which means we don't get to the line and they don't get in foul trouble.  Only DJ and Offutt seem to know how to do it.  Keely actually does a good job of it but he never, ever, ever gets the call.  I guess it's because he's so big his body doesn't show the contact.

Keely and Baltic's post moves are always evasive as opposed to aggressive. If they get the touch right they can get the shot (Keely had a beauty last night). If they would would make a quicker, stronger move to the basket they would draw more fouls.

Really?, Lots of folk can teach that skill...with the added bonus of not introducing other habits and lessons.

Armon could get to the line better than anyone we've had the last 8 years.

I'd use your name as a verb, too, but I'm afraid I'd be accused of a minced vulgarity.

I understand that many people can teach that. I just used him as an example because he was really good at it.
