Has been performing well. Press is hard to get and I can t read the language

Game 1  29 nmin 8pt 7 reb
game 2   34 min 4-12 fg  4-6ft  11 reb1 blk 12 pts

Game 3   34 min 11 rebs 4 blks 7-12 fg 5-8 ft 19 pts
game 4   37 min 8-12 fg 3-4 ft 19pts
game 5   35 min 7-15 fg 8-8 ft 7 reb 1 blk 22pts

team is 1-4 and ranked 16th of 20.

Kudos to DVW for making the most of his minutes standing as 22nd best scorer in the league and tops on his team.

That's a nice start. Looks like he's picked up little by little. I hope he keeps it up.

Devaughn....  He and Bassett displayed the ying and yang of NCAA hoops for me.  Got us into the tournament.  Got us serious national pub. with the gargantuan upset of Georgetown.  And then quit school in bad standing and cost us a scholarship.  I have trouble caring about the dude at all.  Strange.  Oh well.....  Guess I need to take the bad along with the good.

Devaughn left to focus on training in hopes that he would get on an international team. You wouldn't leave school early if a company wants to hire you? Were you mad at Matt Lauer, too?

You can leave school early. You just have to leave in good academic standing to not negatively impact APR. They are not mutually exclusive.

Cmon shab, I love the guy but you can't defend the lack of academic progress despite ALL ATTEMPTS by multiple mentors to keep the road open and remove all barriers. Never recovered from worshipping at the altar and being bassetized.

Ted and Bornacatfan said it better than I could.  Devo is a frustrating guy for me.

"Bassetized".  And, Bassett was "Marburyized" in my mind.

This is a full blown 10 on the unintentional comedy scale.

Really? Not that I believe DVW does not care ...but even if true.....a sad commentary on values. That 55K is only gonna go so far as is the salary he continues to earn. . After hoops what is left? NO degree. That, my friend is a huge missed opportunity and will haunt most kids who make that choice as they get done playing ball and have to face the rest of their lives.....because you know anyone smart enough to piss away a free ride to a scholarship is gonn a be the guy who parlays that money into lucrative investments and has great restraint while handling it . Sorry I have been too close to too many pro players to know different. Maybe DVW will be the exception but the rule is that he will spend more than he has and end up with nothing a la BOnzi et al rather than be the exception.

However, there are some things that are gonna take DW years to fix that are 100% Ohio U's fault.

In no way am I saying DeVaughn was perfect at OU, there are things he could have done better and he learned from them. I would just rather see positive feedback and support for him up here rather than negativity about his name and reputation

I am 100% behind DVW. He has been in my home before and is welcome back anytime, I have always referred to him as one of my kids and will do anything for him including helping him get back to finish his degree any way possible. I don't ever think telling someone what is true is a negative. I don't know what was written inthe edited post so I can not comment on it but there are many of us here who will always be in Devo's corner and that includes holding him to standards that we would hold our own kids to. There is no candy coating the way to adulthood and success. You cant build a life without questioning decisions and self examination of choices is ultimately the best way to learn but it does help to have a mentor (or a village) to help you along the way. I dont expect any of those who tried to help him along the way to forget that the money was not what he left for and the fact was that he was WAYYYYYYY  behind befroe the money appeared. I hope he does not forget that his actions adversely affected the University that gave him 4 years and a myriad of ways to fix the mistakes he was making along the way. When you affect an APR you dont just hurt yourself, you hurt all those who tried and tried to keep the U and YOu on the path.  This is not just directed at him but all all the guys who put themselves before their commitment to being a student athlete and trading 4 years of ball for a degree. THey did not come here to get a degree in basketball. That said there is addition by subtraction and the culture of the program is cleaning itself up and motivating minds as far as I can see.

I am really  happy for him being over there and constantly ask players if they have  heard from him. From what I can see of pro life overseas there........there  seems to be ample free time now that they are settled in to knock out some online courses and get ready to spend some of the summer at home in required coursesand internships. Takes a little discipline but so does getting to practices and living/cooking/cleaning on your own for the first time.

Only fool in life is the fellow how can't or doesn't learn from mistakes.

God gonna keep giving you lessons till you learn em

WIsdom is based on experience and experience is the name we give our mistakes.

My hope for Devo is that he becomes a very wise man and that he passes that on to kids who are on the same track he has been.

For now....... I started this thread to recognize celebrate his Play and achievements  I am still jacked that someone is doing a website devaughnwashington1.com and check it almost every day fro something new. Hope other s follow along and enjoy reading about him as much as I do.
