It's obviously very early but if they can beat Northern Iowa the seed might be a little higher.
Beating UNI would be a big boost but doing well in MAC play is more important. Even with a loss to UNI if we go 13-3 in conference or something like that (assuming winning the rest of our OOC games) would put us at 26-5 entering the MAC Tourney. Lose in the final and we are at 28-6 with an RPI probably somewhere in the 20s. We would be looking at a 10 seed. Lunardi just put us at 13 because that's about where the MAC has been. We haven't had a team put it all together since 2003. But the MAC regular season is going to be where our seeding is made.
Of course, mapping it and doing it are two different things but we have put together the resume so far. I think a lot of people are cautiously optomistic right now but we've been burned so many times before that people are afraid to get too excited. That's the way I'm looking at it. But this team has a couple things that we haven't had in a long time, defense and depth. We still have some worrisome areas (rebounding) but we've able to compensate for that a little.
