This string should just be tacked to the top of the message board as Cooper is what he is and its going to drive some folks crazy all year.

So, you're willing to settle for some minutes of bad, disconcerting basketball in return for the good?

Shouldn't have to.  DJ is good and smart enough to stop with the bad, not-team game stuff.  It's fair for us to ask that of him.

Also, for those who throw out stats, well, maybe.  But stats don't capture magnitude.  An error or fine play six minutes into the game probably is not nearly as meaningful as the same play with 2:12 before game end.  Talk to me about clutch.

Who said anything about settling for anything? First of all, it doesn't matter what I will settle for.  Secondly, I've said in every single post about DJ that I wish he would stop taking those shots as well.  But what if he doesn't?  What if he still chucks up a couple of bad shots every game? What then?   Even with those shots he's still on the Mount Rushmore of Ohio basketball players.  He's still the best basketball player on the floor in almost every game we play. And I'm not talking talent. I'm talking performance.  We still win basketball games because of DJ Cooper, not in spite of DJ Cooper.

I think DJ is at his best when attacking the basket.  He draws so much attention that it leads to wide open looks from his teammates.  Goard benefited twice from passed from DJ where he was left all alone by his man on the baseline.  Both ended in dunks if I remember correctly.  I like that Rico (and Hall to an extent) is starting to attack the rim as well.  This should help keep the D honest.

Both are really starting to get it and it's a beautiful thing.

I completely agree. He makes it much harder to defend him when he drives the lane because he can pull up or pass. He just needs to know when to do what. Same thing with stevie, but he should never drive the lane. I still don't think DJ is very confident in himself when he drives because he's always been a passer. And then when he decides to take the shot, he's too late. He needs to create shots like he creates passes.

It's sad you don't think a guy who just turned 21 can't improve.

I don t read that into his post at all. can't and won't are mutually independant and his post reflects to date, what he feels people have seen or been shown. If your car has only gone 55 MPH the entire time you have owned it.... you may actually not know it does 138 and you may not think you can actually pass in certain situations.

Sometimes JSF..... your interpretation (intentional or not ) is at the heart of why people have acquired a certain taste or distaste for your posts.

I could be mistaken...but I believe that last rebound by DJ just gave him a triple double against Portland

Just saw that he did end up with 14,10 & 10

My thoughts exactly, I logged on to say a similar thought!  I think we tend to be too critical of him sometimes because we see how special he could be if he cuts out a few of the flaws in his game.

This isn't about what he's doing.  It's about what he can do better, more particularly in terms of how that will make us an even more very dangerous team.

What--you're giving one of our key playersa key pass?  That's okay.  No need for you to try to correct the flaws--however small--in your game.

Ohio version of Mt Rushmore or not, I don't understand expecting less than the best..  It's not like asking him to sharpen up his shot selection is bad for him or the team or an onerous request.

Oh give it an effin rest. I'm not giving him a pass, dude.  And what difference does it make whether any one of us on here "holds him accountable" or "gives him a pass?"    I've said in every thread about this, and there have been many, that he needs to improve his shot selection. But it isn't as bad as many on here, apparently including you, think it is.  It's not what defines him as a player.

I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
I wish DJ would improve his shot selection.
He's our best player and it isn't even close.

It's good o have discourse with someone who is always right and ready to admit that others with different points of view are always wrong.

Thank you for participating.

I believe that Cooper is the best PG I have ever seen play for Ohio - he is among the best point guards I have ever seen in college...It would hard for me to keep him off of my "top 25".

What I want to know is: the last Bobcat to record a triple double?  anybody?
