This team over the last 4 games has started to take off with 4 straight double digit victories. The chances are high that this team is going to enter MAC play 13-1 and be the odds on favorite to win the MAC regular season. Stat sheet has the Bobcat RPI listed #9 in the country right now. A postseason placement somewhere for this team is all but certain. Seven straight wins now and with seven more straight this team is a lock for the NCAAs.

UNI beat the number 1 ranked Kansas two years ago in the tournament. If I did my math right, this means we could beat the #1 team right now lol. But in all seriousness, this team is special. Last year, I think we played cocky with big targets on our backs; thinking that because we won the MAC tourney and beat G-town that we could ride that wave into another MAC title. The difference from last years team, however, is that we're a year older, but we're also more focused. We have a team from top to bottom that can produce in some area or another. And it has shown. Looking at the 5 major stats from last nights game, we had 5 different players lead for our team. And they weren't all starters. This team has the potential to win 26 or 27 games this year. All we have to do is stay focused and not let the spotlight get to our heads and think we have to outplay ourselves.

I don't know what happenned from this year to last...because I certainly wouldn't say it relates to losing Tommy & Devo...But the team just seems to have so much confidence and trust in eachother.  It is clear nobody really cares who gets the most credit.  They are just gelling unlike any complete roster I have ever seen at Ohio.  It is a thing of beauty.  And we have the exact same crew back next year!

I think a lot of it is that we run ten deep and Groce has confidence in all of the ten.   The emergence of Hall and Johnson as well as the continued emergence of Baltic and Keely really gives this team options.  Throw in Offutt, Taylor and Goard and you have a deep, deep team.  The way we want to play defense takes a lot of energy so getting guys some time on the bench is key to keeping the energy up.  Last year at this time Keely was struggling, Johnson and Hall were just feeling their way around and still trying to do the things they were able to do in High School.  So essentially we've replaced Tommy and Devo with Offutt, Taylor, Hall, Johnson and Goard and Keely is much improved.

Indeed:  DEFENSE.  Play it and we will contend in every game we play this season.
