I'm surprised he got that job in the first place. 14-13 as head coach at Wheeling after Schaus cleaned house in 2019 is not much of a resume. Must be the power of the Bo Ryan lineage.

By resume only, Saul should be a candidate. He's 80-25 at Northern State with two conference championships and knows the region well. But would he take after they just fired his pupil?

Wild how things play out. When we first hired Saul, I thought he’d be in Athens 3 years max before getting a P5 job after his work at NDSU. Saw Ryan as the potential successor.

I wonder if/when Saul will get another D-1 shot. He has posted a winning record at all of his stops and I think even those of us who agreed with his firing here recognized his very keen nose for talent. Injuries and transfers really derailed him here. He certainly brought in some top-shelf talent. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but Antonio Campbell, Jaaron Simmons, Jason Carter, Ryan Taylor, BVP, Jordan Dartis and Jason Preston is a damn impressive mid-major resume as far as talent seeking goes.

Campbell was a Christian guy, but I’d add Kaminski was a solid transfer pickup by Saul.

What does Campbell's religion have to do with anything?

You are spot on regarding Saul’s recruiting Recovering. Boals certainly made some hay with the presents Saul left under the tree for him.

I think he meant Jim Christian recruited him, not Saul.

Never mind (voice of Emily Litella, SNL circa 1977).

+1 But Boals has recruited some very good freshmen in recent years.

I’ll give you Sears, even though he left, the rest I think the jury is still out on.
