USC recently began a campaign to increase itsr endowment by $6 billion.

We should start a campaign with a seemingly ridiculous goal--$1.804 billion ??!    High goals inspire.  Even if we don't get it all, we could raise a lot.  Tie the campaign into the great success of football, volleyball, hoops, etc.

It would help the University--current students, alumni, etc.

The future of Ohio University:

http://www.ohio.edu/compass/stories/11-12/11/bot-nov-2011...

OU will be spending 2.57 billion dollars over the next two decades to improve its infrastructure. 977.5 million just within the next 6 years.

One thing about our endowment: ours is pretty high compared to most MAC schools. I happen to know the director of development at Ohio University, the current goal is to have a $450 million dollar endowment from about 260 million that it is now. That's more than Fiami and about what Buffalo is currently sitting at.

That's good news, because the Greens could use a major facelift, some of the dorms and sidewalks look like they haven't seen any improvements in years.

Not related to University funding but the off campus housing could use some help too. Last time I was there some of the houses didnt even look habitable. It was bad 15 years ago, but it looks like most of the housing hasnt been updated since the Ford administration.

The University is supposadly tearing down and rebuilding all of south green excluding the front 4 and the new Adams Hall. All the new dorms will look like Adams Hall. More efficiency and much much larger.

71 Bobcat--There was an article in the L.A. TImes yesterday.  I think it was on the front page.  The thrust is that the campaign is unique for its size and for its targeting of, and ability to draw in, huge donations.

I understand.  We're not goona get 6B.  But I don't care about other MAC schools.  We should announce a huge target.  Tie in to sports teams can't hurt.  Get us some pub for our ambition and capabilities.

Go OHIO!
