Every year on Christmas day, Pittsburgh Post Gazette columnist Gene Collier awards a "trite trophy" to a sports slogan that is both inane and overused for the year. He also moonlights as a stand-up comic and I've seen his act at local comedy clubs. A very funny guy. Here is the link- you'll enjoy it:

I think most of these can be traced back to ESPN, which requires an inordinate number of "experts" to fill its 96 hours of air time every day. For ESPN, cliches is a total team effort.
