In watching/listening online, it just seemed to me the guys did a lot of chucking up three's tonight rather than working the offense inside out to create more open looks.

No, lots of misses close in so might as well chuck em up--they were mostly open looks.  RMU defense took away the inside game for the most part.

Inspiring defense at times to get so many steals--just a cold night and credit rmu as they didn't totally buckle at OUr runs.

Cold weather outside and colder shooting inside tonite. Some good looks and the ball was on point for most of the shots. Just wasnt our night. Great defense at times however. Still need a big man to step up and bully someone.

This is a dumb poll,   we average 22 3 point shots a game, 3 for 26 tonite, no one complained when we shot 34 3's against NC A&T or 27 against Oakland, 3's just wasn't falling tonite, had some great open looks they just didn't go down. If we would of won this game this thread would not be posted.

Disagree. This is a very worthy poll. Not all 3-point shots are the same - are they open threes? early or late in the shot clock? could we have worked for a higher percentage shot?

Coach Groce's answer to this was no:

“There were some that maybe weren’t great. They were just OK, but we also took a lot of great ones and we just missed them, especially in the first half. We just didn’t make them.”

He also said he never tells his players to stop shooting, even on a night when the shots aren't falling.

I guess my point to the poll is this:  If you're 3-26, at some point when we're supposedly a taller and more physical team we should be feeding Ivo and Reggie in the post more often.  It's also an example shown of what happens when DJ takes a lot of shots from the perimeter.  I love watching the kid play, but at no point should he, or any other player, be attempting 12 shots from behind the arc.

Gman, I would argue that attempting 26, 27, or 34 from downtown is too many no matter what.  Yeah, if we make them it's great, but we'll be no one making 3, or eve 6-7 out of 26-27 threes a game.  Especially when DJ shoots 12 of them.

Almost all of our turnovers were trying to feed the post.  Robert Morris was extremely aggressive on both ends of the court.  We just didn't match their intensity.  The thing is I don't think we weren't intense or weren't hustling. I just think Robert Morris was seriously jacked up.  It's the first time I've seen them so I don't know if that's the way they always play but they made it an ugly game and it worked to their advantage.

We had alot of uncontested 3's because RM was packing it in to shut down our inside game, they just didn't fall and yes most of out TO's was from trying to force it inside. RM was gonna make us beat them from the outside.

For some reason we haven't been shooting the ball very well at home so far this year.  Against D-1 opponents we have shot 40.1% overall and 30.1% from three.  On the road, where we have faced the majority of our tougher opponents, we are 48.1% overall and 38.6% from three.   Hopefully that's just a factor of odd practice schedules with the holidays and it will right itself with a little regularity setting in.
