On the eve of MAC play where the revealing will take place I figured this would be a good time to choose one now that we have a good sample size from which to judge.

No on the fence comments like "we could be if" ....... that's a weak man's answer

Well what are you waiting for???

Step up!!

We'll know after the next 5 games. As far as I'm concerned, today is the start that matters.

Who knows? Have we been tested? We played Louisville close and beat some decent mid major squads, but we have been feasting on Kennesaw State and such. There are those on this board that think beating UNI and Lamar are big things and it justifies an at-large bid. We haven't played enough quality teams and beaten them to think at-large. Top 100 teams? The last time I checked there are only 65 teams getting in. Tonight we lose to a very mediocre BG squad that you have to say a top team wins on the road. It's not like losing to Kent on the road. Conference play will be tough and we will need to win the conference tourney to get a bid. We have a very good team, but will be challenged in the MAC. It's early and conference play will be exciting.

Taking your very 1st six words then your answer should be it's just a special start --- If there is a question as to whether we have been tested then there should be scores and more importantly game flows that reflect questionable opponents.

This is a special team.  For the first time in quite a while we have ten guys who CAN come in and do the job every night.  So far, they've beaten good Marshall, Northern Iowa and Oakland teams on the road.  (Oakland was 6-2 including a win over TN before the Cats beat them; that loss appears to have sent Oakland into a tailspin.)  We have really good inside and outside players.  But "special" teams can also buy into the hype.  The football team got votes in the polls twice this season, and lost both times right afterwards.  This team may have seen themselves rising in the polls and may have forgotten that they need to do more than show up every night.  RMU & BGSUcks stepped up their games, maybe because of Ohio's recognition in the polls.  The Cats need to do the same.

Where's the button for the option "neither"?

If you can't see it's a special start, and has the potential to be among the best OU teams in the last 20ish years, you're not watching very closely.

It "was" a special start (up to 1/2/12). The "potential" to be among the best of last 20 years I think we will find out 2/11/12. 8:00 PM last night through 7:00 PM Buffalo start time are likely the most important 95 hours of the season - can we turn this around. Coach has said we need to "figure some things out".......they (staff & players) better be or this could turn into a downward spiral.

It was rendered irrelevant by the reality that 12-2 is 12-2 and doesn't happen in Athens every season or even close to every season.

To think neither is a viable option is to suggest that 12-2 starts happens on a regular basis.

Is that what you're saying?  Are you saying otherwise that the schedule of opponents takes away from any good record a team will have?

"You are, what your record says you are"      Bill Parcells

The record says at the very least it's a special start.

That's more or less what I was thinking.  The last three games in a row don't define the season unless they're allowed to.  Go out and win 4, 5, or 6 in a row, and this one is mostly forgotten.
