Unfortunately the game is 40 minutes long.
FT%, Turnovers, 3pt% all awful.
All our opponents need to do is let DJ shoot,  let this team shoot 3's, & foul us because we don't make free throws.
Our team will be the easiest team to scout this year.
I'm concerned.
All the OOC work we did has been left in those games.
So much for our great D. We played good D maybe for 10 minutes tonight.
In the 1st half with 3:50 left we rose to the occasion for 2 minutes to take a 6 point lead only to give up 5 points of it.
The with 4 left in the second and down by 13 we come back to tie and we then let up and loose by 10.
Awful.
After this performance I can't see us much better than .500 in league play.
Team...please prove me wrong.

Again 71, we graduated in the same year but saying we played 10 good minutes is about doubling the truth.  We made a three minute run to get it close but that was it.  As has been said elsewhere...we thought this was a Top 25 team 10 days ago.  Question has been answered and it is NO.  Just another middle of the MAC pack team!

So I went to this game, decked out in the black football jersey my wife bought me for Christmas, and was really optimistic about going into MAC play.  I thought we were going to run all over them after going up 6-0 real quick, but we totally crumbled.  We couldn't find a combination of 5 guys that really worked well.  I thought Reg took a few steps backward tonight... He couldn't catch the basketball to save his life.  We couldn't hit threes when it counted.  We didn't have any confidence from 8 feet in.  Why can't we go back up strong when we get an offensive rebound??  Defensively, BG's point guard, all 4 feet of him, shredded us up and down the court.  However, when DJ tried to drive the lane, he threw up a bunch of prayers, only to miss or get blocked into next week.  We couldn't get any clutch defensive rebounds down the stretch, and our free throws are marginal at best.  We are going to need every single one of those 12 non-conference wins to make it to 20 wins this year, and I fear the days we play the rest of the MAC east.  That performance was very disconcerting, and I can't imagine, barring a miraculous turnaround, us earning anything better than a 6 or 7 seed in the MAC tournament.  The inconsistency simply continued from last week, and I wonder if we'll ever have another decent shooting game again this season.

However, I did like how well our full court press worked for us tonight.  Can someone tell me why, when we can go 10 players deep, we don't full court press ALL NIGHT??  We forced a few key turnovers, and I think we could have possibly taken control of that game if we had kept the pressure on most of the game.  I know I need to give myself the chance to sleep on this disappointing loss, but wow, I have a hard time believing we were ever considered for a top 25 ranking.  I really hope this turns around soon, but after the RMU and BG games, I am not expecting anything spectacular out of this team.  I will, however, always continue watching, supporting, and attending the games.  Go Cats!

Don't know if you can keep the press up all night, even with ten deep.  But the team was obviously better when using the press.  Groce noticed this earlier in the year and should use it at least half the time.

I think much like the RMU game...We just did not shoot the ball well.  This team is ice cold from outside right now.  I though we created better looks than BG did, but did less with them.  If we are shooting the ball well or even average, we are tough to beat.  Gotta get back to the Convo wednesday and get the shot working.

I think the reason we are not shooting well is - as I just posted on the "Is this team soft" thread:

Some of the toughness issues were on offense as well. Coach demonstratively called out BG's Thomas's effort on a penetration drive and shot as an example of "heart" and toughness, pounding his chest as he paced down the bench exhorting to the team that they needed to play with more toughness and heart.

One of the reason's we end up shooting too many not well selected 3's is that we do not have enough consistent effort of urgent and determined movement in the offense - bodies and the ball. We don't create (through maximum effort/toughness) enough high % scoring opportunities.

do you think this has anything to do with shot selection, or playing the game inside - out?  Seems like Ivo was goign pretty good in the first half, only to not get as many opportunities in the second.  I wasn't really watching close enough to see if that was a result of a change in defense, or a change in how he much he was fed the ball.  All I do know is that in the first 15ish minutes, he owned the low post on offense.  After that, offensively he wasn't much of a factor.

I felt like Ohio was getting better looks than BG...BG was just hitting tough ones and Ohio was missing easy ones.  I could be wrong, but it was the impression I got.

There was definately some of that. And, I have been amazed there has been no mention of the refs on here. Was there any complaining (beyond average anyway) on the game chat here? Kellog got criminally mugged on two no calls, one shooting, and one on a D rebound - I had a BG fan tell me to cool out or I was gonna have a heart attack when I was yelling about the second one. The whole Ohio fan section seemed to be seeing a consistant inbalance of calls. I know however that when at the game it may not be seen as you may see it online or on TV.
