Late night last night, Alan. Maybe I should have OCF guest teach this week, as long as he stays away from politics.

I didn't know there was a hockey game at the same time, though all that points to is terrible scheduling by the BG Athletic Department.

Not BG's fault. Those games were scheduled by the MAC and CCHA, both of which has no reason to think about the other's needs.

This was my second event at the Stroh Center.  Overall, considering everything, I think it is a good facility.  I think it is very versatile.  It's not fancy...but they spent the money they had available to maximize utility.

I think as time goes on, they will dress it up more.

I'll have to agree that the long walk up the steps is puzzling.  Doesn't bother me, but could hurt those with health problems.  Only very limited elevator space.  I don't know how much it would cost, but they might want to consider installing escalators.

I don't think we come off as very gracious fans when we look down our noses at a sister school's attempt to upgrade their facilities.

(Dragon and I had to LAUGH at the PA guy's attempt to get the teams to line up for the national anthem.  Plus, it was kinda funny when the dimmed the lights for intros then immediately switched the lights back on full force.  But those are just minor things.)

I can't really agree with the comparison to HS facilities.  There may be HS facilities (especially in IN, borna) with similar capacity, but it wouldn't have the amenities.

Okay, so what about the start times of the games?  It's just bad business to have competing events starting at the same time.  Of course, I'm making the assumption that people care about both sports and would go to both, which is probably a bad assumption.

The Falcon fan pointed out ESPNU changed the start time from 4 to 6.  They previously had it lined up so Stroh could empty straight into hockey after the game.

Thanks, and I think if some of your negative fans saw the "whole" arena, that they would like it too.  I agree with some of their thoughts, like no escalator, although that has turned out to not be as big a problem as I originally thought.  I really don't know why opposing fans would care about the size of the arena, as long as there are seats available and they are comfortable, like our chair seats are.  They are even nice and wide to accomodate all of us fat asses!  I do know the size of the arena fits us for 90% of our games and the NCAA thought it was good enough that we are hosting the NCAA REGIONAL woman's basketball tournament this year.  Some of those negative Nellies sound like you have some Toledo people on your board posing as Bobcat fans!  ;)

Once again, foiled by ESPN.

My primary comment is that it's decor, outside of the entry way is bland.  Stand in the concourse and you might not know it's Bowling Green.  We have some of the same problems in Athens at the Convo in my opinion.

It seems to me that this is not uncommon. From what I remember, both Ball State and Akron have facilities that work the same way, where you have to go up steps and then back down to your seat. I don't remember escalators or anything of that sort at either place. I'm sure there are other arenas that are the same.

I joked when they built it that they'd get better attendance if they built their arena in Toledo...or played in the Huntington Center.

I am a BG grad as well as an OHIO alum.  I bleed green and white much more than orange and brown (except on Sundays).  Anyhow I met up with a fellow alum who still lives in BG and had the opportunity to enjoy area where the adult beverages were available during the game.  That was a nice area to view the game but I will say it does seem to take away some of the fan involvement.

Actually had the opportunity to sit in the courtside seats until I told the BG alum rep that offered them to us that I would be sporting the green and white if I sat there. We agreed that since the seats were going to be free that might not be the best thing to do since everyone sitting there had payed pretty good price for the tickets.

I liked the new facility quite a bit.  I was sorry to see that the old Anderson Arena troubles followed the Bobcats to the new place.
