I do feel like we're the best of the 1-2 teams in the MAC.
And as far as DJ goes, I think his shooting load and selection is more of a symptom than a cause of offensive problems. Yes, he's always going to chuck a couple bad shots, but as perimeterpost pointed out, we can live with them when other things are going well.
I agree with this. I knew this thread would be here after the game but the stats only tell part of the story. The biggest problem we have on offense compared to earlier in the year is that we have almost no one who is confident in their shot right now. Kellogg is still shooting well but he's chronically under aggressive. He's got to work the shot fake, drive or pull up jumper into his repetoire. Walter Offut has completely lost confidence in anything but the slash to the hoop. Not sure why Stevie Taylor isn't getting more time but I would team him with D.J. more because he will do something with the ball.
Up until Akron pulled ahead by 4 points late D.J. was 1-5 on three point attempts. Three of those came with less than 10 seconds on the shot clock. He was 1-2 on 3 pt attempts with more than 10 seconds on the shot clock. I would say that he had three shots all game that I thought were bad shots.
The reason we lost on Saturday was not D.J. Cooper. The reason we lost was because we lost every key rebound battle in the last 4 minutes when we turned a lead into a big deficit.
