I vote yes because I hope it is.  I haven't seen the place filled to the roof since '96 or '97.   I've seen plenty of 10,000 to 11,000 games.  I'm hoping to show the fiance what a rockin' Convo is like Saturday.  She's only seen the smaller crowds the last few years.

I'm hoping to see a sold out Convo as well.  I'm not sure I have ever been there when it was sold out completely.

Maybe the DePaul game in '83...

Home game against BGSU when Antonio Daniels was a senior in 1996.  Sell out game.  I know because I got there early and sat in the nose bleeds.

I'd say it's virtually a lock at this point.

There are supposedly less than 1000 promotional tickets left and only 3800 additional being reserved for Students/Walk up crowd.

This game will have a different feel than many of those other big games, at least at the beginning.  When the lights go out and one of Evan Shaw's videos starts playing on the screens, the hairs on the back of our necks will be standing up.  We will be heavy favorites and everyone over the age of 30 will understand the emotion of the environment.  My boys are 8 & 10 and I am so excited that they will get to witness the energy and passion that the Convo has when used to its full potential.

I hope so, though I'm less optimistic about that.

I don't see how it's not Very different. First potential sell out in a dozen years? 14-4? Video's? On & on.......

And speaking of videos - what are the chances Mr. Trent appears at the end of the pre-game hype video - that could be cool!

Dad Weekend crowds tend to be deadish, as there are a lot of people there not invested in the result.

On the flip side Dragon, this is a team that the locals and townies like.  There's not an as%$#@( on the team and those of us who are here game in and game out as students come and go recognize and appreciate that.  I'm hoping the whole band shows up Saturday, the promotions are kept to a minimum as they were Wednesday night (no race to holzer, no half court shot), the guy on the music knows what he's doing and the weather cooperates.  This could be the biggest buzz since DePaul and Ohio State.  Oh yeh, and did I mention Charlie.  Couldn't be a better day to be a Bobcat.  I'm bringing my video camera.

The Bowling Green game referenced above in 1996 during Daniels' senior season was 11,000 plus.  It was a huge, loud crowd but not a sellout.  I remember it well.  I think the noise level at the end was the loudest I've ever heard it in there.  My ears literally hurt.

Another loud one from the same era was the win over Miami when Geno dribbled the clock out.  I think attendance was near sellout but not quite for that one.

I'm expecting an announced, tickets sold crowd of around 12,000 tomorrow...but, there is a chance tickets sold level and actual attendance could be depressed by the freezing rain predicted for Central Ohio.  People who only have a buck or three invested in a ticket would be more likely to stay home...we may have a large number of no shows tomorrow.  The number of Dads traveling in from northern Ohio and Central Ohio could be lower due to weather conditions in those areas.  Don't want to be a Nervous Nellie, but just trying to be realistic.  Hope this doesn't happen.

BTW, JSF is right about the nature of these Dad's Days crowds...we sometimes have crowds of 6,000 which are louder and more more engaged than the 10,000 crowds.

We had just short of 11,000 for the Buffalo game last year during Dads weekend.  You're crazy if rival Miami + Gary Trent + Better Bobcat team + Promo tickets + Unprecedented marketing efforts only nets us 1,000 extra.

The Dads are going to be seriously out numbered tomorrow though... hopefully, that will lessen the killjoy effect they normally have on games.

It seems it will be a sellout, more or less. All tickets sold out except for 100 being saved to be bought at the door and 3,800 set aside for students and dads. I guess the only question is if that many students and dads show up and I don't expect that will be an issue.
