Great game by the 'Cats.   I thought we played with more intensity then in any game since UNI and on par with the Louisville game.  Most of the 3-point shots came off clean, crisp passing.  OUr defensive intensity was particularly noticeable.  We need to keep this momentum and get a good four-game home winning streak going to keep the sky from falling again!

I don't want to say "we're back" because any team can go off on any given night.  Still, scoring 87 points on Kent was a big step for this team at this point.

It's good to be the worst 14-4 team in basketball.

The key for this team will be winning all its home games and getting road wins @Toledo, NIU, EMU, Miami to reach 12-4. Having WMU, CMU and Ball State at home is our chance to perhaps gain on Akron/Kent St/BGSU and UB and steal the MAC regular season and East titles.  Avoiding home losses against the East is critical. Miami has slipped on that banana like Ohio did last year.

Basketball is so much more fun when you make shots.

Making shots is key, but we also won the rebounding margin by 12 (offensive 16 to 4), the turnover battle by 8, and went to the line 6 more times, making six more shots.  That says more to me that just making shots.  That says they out played Kent in every facet of the game AND they made shots.

Wow.  What a great game.  Watching this team more and more (thank you TV coverage) makes me remember where Groce came from.  His style is very much from the Thad Matta book of basketball.  And it all starts with defense.

We committed wholeheartedly to the defensive side of the game tonight, especially in the 2nd half.  Our defense created our offense.  Hands in the passing lane, tight coverage, quick feet.  We looked like a different team that what I've seen in the rest of MAC play so far.  Me likey.

Offut deserves credit as well.  Offensively, you can say it starts with DJ and I will disagree.  When Waltet is slashing that opens up our entire offense.  It was great to see Nick work hard for the open 3 as well.

Great effort.  Now build from here and keep improving.  Destroy Miami!

And Motta learned from Barry Collier - and look where that got Butler.  Glad to have Butler in our roots.

Yes, I agree we outplayed them from start to finish and, to use a word from a previous era, we started and finished the game with a "great mindset."  That mindset, I believe, showed itself primarily with the intensity we played with.  As I said, I thought it equaled that of the UNI and UL games.  I'm hoping that JG is learning how to get his guys into this mindset prior to every game coming up that is even mildly challenging.  We can't afford many more slips.
