TJ looks really good on the drive. I'm with you in wanting to see him do that more.

RS, we agree!  TJ does "camp out" on the perimeter during most/all possessions.  He's shown glimses of being able to drive and play around the hoop a few times.  With his inconsistent 3-ball, along with us needing more slashing and less 3 ball shots, I'd like to see him develop a little more into a guy that can do more than sit in the corner waiting on a long jumper.  I'm not really sure if TJ or anyone else knows what his game really is.  But if I had to describe him today, I'd say an inconsistent, spot up 3 point shooter.

If he is being told to hoist threes rather than penetrate, our problems are bigger than I thought.

He's 10-39 from 3-point land.  That's not "inconsistent"; it's consistently bad.

I can just hear it being taught at practice now:

John Groce (JG):  "Now DJ you're the top of the key 3 point shooter.  TJ you're the right wing 3 point shooter and Nick you get the left wing 3 point shooter.  Stevie when you come in you take 8 steps back and that's your 3 point shot.  Ivo, you shoot some more 3's this year.   You're allowed 11 for the year, so use them wisely.   Walter, you shoot 3's too, but you're allowed the drive as much as you want, but DJ is only allowed to drive a little bit."

TJ:  Am I not allowed to drive it to the bucket?

JG:  Prefer you stay in your 3 point shooting spot and be ready to pop them in..

TJ:  But what if I'm cold as all get out?  You notice I haven't exactly been money this year from out there and the scouting reports seem to say to guard the arc.  What if other teams figure out all we do is shoot 3 pointers? Shouldn't we mix it up a little and keep them honest?  Maybe try some higher percentage shots when the bombs arent' falling.  We just doing the double threat position?

JG:  Just listen and stay in your spot.  You'll get the ball kicked out to you for your open shot.

TJ:  But coach, you just said Walter is the only one who's got the green light to drive and he usually doesn't dish it when in the paint.  And DJ can do it, but doesn't always do it.  Then consider our post guys are typically black holes, so who's going to dish it out to us consistently?

JG:  Think 3 baby.

TJ:  But I'm actually kind of tall and can help out in the paint a little bit, especially considering our size disadvantage in some game. 

JG:  Stay the course TJ.

Don't know much about hoops, but I just don't think so.
