I thought it was a nice touch to hear Larry (as well as Geno and Boals) tell a sold out Convo "Go Bobcats!" today. Perhaps we can finally heal some of the harsh feelings amongst some locals.

Yes I thought that this was a very nice touch to the ceremony.

I thought the message board comments from Larry, Geno, and Jeff were the icing on the cake of a well done ceremony on Gary Trent day!  It was also great to see so many former Bobcats around the convo!  Ohio did not play their best, but hung in there and made a couple of big plays at the end.  Typical Ohio-Miami basketball game in the Convo.  Great atmosphere....the band was rocking as usual!   Now if we could  just get rid of some of the stupid "time-out" contests and let the band play and the dance team dance.....even better home court atmosphere!

I loved seeing the old faces there too - Ed Sears, Gus Johnson, Chad Estis, Jason Terry.  The last hour in the Convo gave me chills at times.  Great day all around.

Side note:  When people donate the money that they make for the sponsored time out contests, I'm sure they'll end.  Until then, they are reality no matter who complains about them because they are financially necessary.  So if it bugs you, I'd recommend coming up with a creative alternative.

My 7 year old made it through an entire game for he first time yesterday. One of his favorite parts was the contests.

I lost $2 to my sons because I thought Tunji would win the tricycle race.  The steering column malfunctioned, but they still made me pay.

Ha!  My young boys were laughing that he broke the bike.  One of their highlights of the day.

I wouldn't put money on a tall guy ever winning the trike race...seems shorter legs would be better.

FWIW

TUnjiwas truly bummed when I asked him about the race......I like that brand of competitor.....takes a loss on the trike to heart.

Those stupid "time-out" contests bring a lot of money to an athletic department that desperately needs all it can get.

I tried to tell Tunji that the secret is to lean over the front wheels at the start. Sure enough, he spun his wheels badly and screwed up the handle bar alignment.
